Fiat Offers a New Look at the Cute Topolino EV

The retro-style heavy quad bike looks like a miniature version of the Fiat 500 and has ropes and a canvas roof instead of doors.

It will soon be available in European markets in a different style.

"Topolino" means "little mouse" in Italian, but the term has become synonymous with Disney's Mickey Mouse character. It was also the nickname given to the original 1936 Fiat 500. The new version of the Topolino takes its styling cues from the cute and iconic 1957 Fiat 500, which also influenced the design of the 2007 and 2020 urban models. But the Topolino stands out as the smallest of the 500 models with a length comparable to its Citroen counterpart at 2,410 mm (95 inches).

The new Fiat Topolino features several design elements similar to its larger counterpart, the 500. It features round headlights, faux metal bumper pads and mirror caps, as well as pill-shaped taillights. The canvas upper adds to its appeal and gives it a fascinating resemblance to the miniature 500.

Topolino draws attention with its prominent rope handles instead of the traditional doors that resemble the classic 500 Jolly when viewed from the side. For the presentation model, Fiat chose a mint-coloured exterior with a matte finish and is tastefully finished with retro-style white hubcaps.

While the current photo and video footage provides only a partial glimpse of the two-seater interior, we can see some of the ornate upholstery on the dash, the Fiat emblem on the steering wheel, and the light-coloured padding on the seats. .

The compact electric vehicle will come equipped with an integrated smartphone holder, but may offer limited creature comforts as its Citroen counterpart lacks air conditioning. An interesting feature is the optional shelf and suitcase at the rear, which offers a stylish solution for expanding luggage space.

The Topolino is expected to share the same electric motor as its sister models, providing 8 hp (6 kW / 8 PS) and a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup will likely provide a limited top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph) and a driving range of approximately 43 miles (70 km).

According to the Italian automaker, the Topolino was designed to offer "mobility and freedom" to even the youngest customers. This is because some European countries have laws that allow teenagers aged 14 or 16 to legally drive heavy quad bikes, further expanding the potential customer base for Topolino.

More details about the vehicle are expected to emerge soon after the launch of the Fiat Topolino. Judging by the success of the Citroen Ami in Southern European markets, the new Fiat could be an instant hit if the pricing is right.
