00:00 Talking Minds, AstraZeneca Parla al Futuro, is the title of the second edition of the
00:10 event of the multinational biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the Italian socio-demographic
00:16 transformation, its impact on the health system and the opportunity offered by a longer-lived
00:22 and healthier population. Sustainability is one of the great challenges and demography
00:28 of the world, and in part it does not help. In a balance that sees older and younger people
00:34 in fact, there is a need for the life science sector to find possible solutions.
00:39 Research and development is an important solution, it offers opportunities to extend life, but
00:46 maintaining a good quality of life for patients and in fact the fruits of innovation used
00:54 well, therefore quickly and appropriately, produce a positive impact also for sustainability
01:01 as well as for the life of patients.
01:04 Institutions are also active to guarantee society longevity, a factor that can be
01:10 strategic for the country more active in health.
01:13 Politics can do a lot with an attention to the health system and therefore to a prevention,
01:21 care, territory that is able to safeguard health and ensure a long life, but then there
01:27 are all the initiatives in the most closely social sector, which are those related to
01:31 the social inclusion of the elderly, are those related to the conditions of life that can
01:36 give them a perspective of longevity and finally also the initiatives that serve to fight
01:43 those common places that often indicate old age, that particular moment of life as a
01:49 negative moment, rather than strategic and of value as it should be.
01:53 The GDP is no longer an appropriate indicator to observe the development of a country,
01:58 we must work on human capital.
02:01 The GDP, which also counts, is now going a little back in the assessment of the human
02:09 development index, we must say that there is a human development index and this index
02:14 is based on the quality, the preparation and the health of the human capital of a country.
02:21 That makes the wealth of a country, the human capital and the research and innovation also
02:26 serve to protect this human capital and to make it grow at any age, because the human
02:34 capital is the real wealth of a country.
