00:00 I am going to make a car for a doll using some duct tape, spare cardboard, a shoe box,
00:21 jewels, buttons, a pipe cleaner, and two wooden dowels.
00:26 Oh, and don't forget plastic from an old package.
00:29 For a shoe box, I'm using an old photo storage box, and I just removed the hardware.
00:34 I put my doll in the box so that I can judge where I need the seat to be.
00:38 I sketch a trapezoid shape, cut it out, use the cut piece as a guide on the other side,
00:45 lay strips of duct tape on a piece of cardboard in silver and black, trace and cut small circles
00:50 out of the silver, large ones out of the black, until you have four of each.
00:55 And if you would like for your wheels to be a little bit thicker, just add more circles.
01:00 Carefully poke a hole through the center of both circles that is large enough for the
01:04 wooden dowel to pass through.
01:06 Now I'm going to take the box and cut a piece of cardboard to go over this back end.
01:11 I'm going to tape it down.
01:13 I'm going to cut a similar piece for the front, only I leave it a little bit longer so that
01:17 I can make a dashboard.
01:18 I'm going to fold the piece for the dashboard down and then set it aside because I need
01:22 to plan out where my wheels are going to go.
01:24 I'm going to put my wheels onto my car, use some sharp scissors and poke a hole through.
01:30 Then I make sure that my wooden dowel can pass all the way through.
01:34 Now for the seat, I'm going to cut a piece of cardboard that is wider than the box, bend
01:39 the bottom part up, place it in my box, and then trim off the excess behind the back.
01:44 But I make sure to leave a little extra down by the seat.
01:49 For the seat and duct tape, cover the hood of the car in duct tape.
01:54 I'm adding special detail to the dashboard by making it a different color.
01:59 Cut another piece of cardboard that is the same width as your box for the windshield.
02:03 Cut a rectangular portion out of the middle of the top.
02:07 Then I'm going to cut the sides at an angle.
02:10 Cut a piece of plastic off of some old packaging, tape it into place, then cover the rest in
02:16 duct tape.
02:18 Poke a small hole in the dashboard where you want the steering wheel to go.
02:23 Place the hood onto your box, tape it into place.
02:26 Now I'm going to cover the rest of my box in duct tape.
02:31 I take a pipe cleaner and make a steering wheel by just turning it in a circle.
02:40 I think I'm going to add one more pipe cleaner to make it a little thicker.
02:43 Cut two long strips of cardboard, cover them in duct tape.
02:48 I'm going to go ahead and put my wheels into place so that I can fold this long strip of
02:53 cardboard into fenders.
02:57 After folding it to the desired shape, I'm going to rest it on that little piece that
03:00 we left out earlier and then just use tape on the underside to secure it in place.
03:11 Trim off the excess.
03:13 Take a piece of double sided tape to attach the windshield, clip the ends off of these
03:19 buttons.
03:22 Use dog toenail clippers to trim off the excess and then glue the button right on top of the
03:29 wooden dowel to hold it secure.
03:33 I'm going to glue another button on top as a hood ornament.
03:39 Use jewels for lights.
03:42 Add some finishing touches to customize your car.
03:45 Put the steering wheel into place and you're done.
03:53 And if you want this for a larger doll or a smaller doll, I would just make it bigger
04:04 or smaller.
04:05 For the smaller doll size, I used a Pop-Tart box and for a larger doll, I would probably
04:09 use a packing box from like Walmart or something.
04:13 And if you can't find a wooden dowel that's long enough to fit all the way through, I
04:16 considered using these things.
04:18 I forgot what they're called, but they're like little brass things that you stick through
04:23 and you can fold the ends up and it helps to fasten it like you use them in school a
04:27 lot of times to make puppets and stuff.
04:28 So that might work for you.
04:30 So happy crafting!

05:41 It's amazing at some of the cool things that you can find by just looking through your
05:45 trash.
05:46 This is an energy drink bottle that was about to go in the recycling bin and I looked in
05:50 the cap and there was this little blue thing and I was like, "What is that?"
05:53 So I pulled it out and it looks like a perfect little Barbie plate.
05:57 Isn't that so cool?
