Two single mothers who are best friends have moved in together - with all of their kids.

Both mothers with two teenage girls have become tired of the stress that comes with being a single parent - so now share a home.

Amy Broad, 38, took to social media to announce that she was "resigning from single parenting" and she would be doing it together with best friend Elesha Pyke.

Train driver Amy already lives in a six-bedroom house with daughters Georgia and Sierra in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and will have sufficient space for Elesha and her two daughters.

She has been a single parent for more than five years and will be "combining forces" with Elesha, who has been a single parent for eight years.

Amy said: "We have just hit a point in our lives when we are so sick of struggling to do everything by ourselves.

"We have both been single parents for more than five years, Elesha closer to nine, and it is exhausting.

"Constantly feeling guilty for having to go to work and leave the kids, even though they are teenagers.

"And by the time you do get home, you don't stop or sit down until it's time for bed.

"It is relentless and we were both just complaining to each other about how hard it is and how we just want someone else in the house, another adult, to sometimes be able to take the mental load off or run a couple of errands.

"Elesha's lease was coming to an end and the cost of her unit was going to go up by 40% and so financial strain was going to be something else to add to the equation.

"Money for everyone is tight, so we thought, why not just give it a go and see if it's something that could work out?

"At this point, we have nothing to lose. We will have support, companionship and the girls will have other kids in the house to keep them company."

Amy and Elesha have been friends since 2002 and have even lived together when they were both in their twenties.

The pair says they are each other's person and this is a solid foundation to live together.

On top of their own friendship, all of their kids who span from the ages of 12 to 15 have always been in each other's lives.

Despite the rock-solid foundation they appear to have they are both aware there will be challenges ahead.
