00:03 [Speaking German]
00:09 Sixth round in the Supralight
00:16 Division. Seconds are
00:19 [Speaking German]
00:22 So Hugo Mickleth in the blue and
00:27 the yellow. He's serving as a
00:32 southpaw. Mickleth. He's
00:35 generally got quite a big
00:38 entourage around him. They're
00:41 trying to build that profile
00:43 certainly. The fresh prince of
00:45 Monaco is a solid nickname. You
00:47 look at the fight kit, attention
00:49 is paid to detail. They're
00:50 trying to build them into a star
00:52 as much as they can. He didn't
00:54 qualify for the Olympics in
00:56 the best of luck because McCormack
00:57 went on to win a silver medal.
01:01 Boxed at European Youth, European
01:04 Senior Championships, World Youth
01:06 Championships, World Seniors. So he
01:08 didn't really medal but he was
01:11 exposed to the highest level. One
01:14 thing that probably would have held him
01:16 back is the fact that he's boxing out
01:18 of Monte Carlo which doesn't really
01:19 have too much of an infrastructure. He
01:21 would have had to have done a lot of
01:22 traveling for sparring I'm sure of that.
01:26 But there is an opportunity for
01:28 somebody to really carry that flag for
01:30 France because it hasn't happened for
01:33 Tony Yoker. A lot of hopes are pinned on
01:34 him. It hasn't happened for him. It's not
01:38 really happening at the minute for his
01:39 ex-wife Estelle Moselle either who won
01:42 gold at Rio. There are other good
01:46 fighters but you definitely want to
01:50 stake his claim Mikhailov.
01:55 He's a big super lightweight, kind of
01:58 wide range of shoulders on him.
02:02 Had a little slip in that corner.
02:03 Somebody else did that earlier on so I
02:05 think there is a bit of moisture in that
02:06 blue corner.
02:17 Bulic looking to throw those hooks when
02:18 Mikhailov gets close enough to him.
02:41 Trying to find that jab Mikhailov.
02:42 Flicking it out looking for the right
02:44 hand that time and then pulling out of
02:46 the way of what was a pretty crude
02:48 attack from Bulic. Final 30 seconds of
02:51 round one.
02:57 Nice right hand on the inside there
02:58 from Mikhailov. Time that one neatly.
03:14 That looks okay to me that left hand
03:15 the referee just signaling to Bulic to
03:17 keep his punches up.
03:35 Kind of reverse one-two there from
03:37 Mikhailov. Led off with the right hand.
03:38 That didn't reach for the left hand.
03:40 Pretty much did get there. And that angle
03:42 actually gives you a good idea of the
03:44 reach he's got. He's got long arms.
03:50 Lots of fighters do it's something that
03:52 makes you suited to boxing really.
03:56 Your average person their height and
03:58 their reach will be the same so if
04:00 you're say you're six foot that's 72
04:02 inches then you're likely that your
04:05 reach will be the same. Boxers very often
04:08 have that plus on.
04:29 Looking for that one-two. He just needs to
04:32 get a little bit closer with it. He's
04:33 reaching with it just about so it's
04:35 scoring sort of but if he is going to
04:40 start stopping anybody then he needs to
04:42 just take those feet in a bit closer.
04:43 Trust himself a little bit more. Set them
04:46 a bit more. Get that biting point. If you
04:51 connect right at the end of the punch
04:53 then it's easy for the judges to see
04:55 punches thrown from the outside like
04:57 that. But the power goes off them really
05:01 and that could be one of the reasons
05:04 why he struggled to get anybody out of
05:07 there. You get the odd absolute freak of
05:08 nature like Deontay Wilder who carries
05:11 his power right to the end of his punch
05:12 right to the very tip of his knuckles
05:14 but that's not typical. He is the
05:16 exception that proves the rule really.
05:20 Sat down on that right hand a little bit
05:27 more there Mikhailov. Because he's got
05:30 good tools you can see that.
05:33 The adjustment from amateur to pro is
05:41 still a really really big one. It's been
05:44 10 point must scoring in the amateurs
05:46 rather than computer scoring for 10
05:48 years now. Nice left hand on the inside
05:50 there from Mikhailov. Which stylistically
05:53 has brought amateur boxing more in line
05:54 with pro boxing but it's still a massive
05:56 shift. In amateur boxing simply put you
06:03 have to hit the target. You have to
06:04 punch to the target. You don't have to
06:07 punch through it or hurt it. In pro
06:11 boxing you do. That's what it's all about.
06:14 Just looking to sing that right hand in
06:16 a little bit more there Mikhailov. He's
06:17 enjoying himself in there.
06:24 He has got some good patience about him.
06:26 The referee just saying that he caught
06:29 Bulik around the back of the head. Bulik
06:31 about half a minute ago at one point was
06:33 just completely taking his eye off the
06:38 opponent in front of him and just
06:39 looking at the referee.
06:42 Nice little rat-a-tat to the body there
06:50 from Bulik and then just stepped off to
06:52 his right. Just dipped his knees and
06:59 shoveled the right hand into the body
07:01 there Mikhailov. Closing stages of round
07:04 two. He's keeping the tempo nice and
07:08 high here Mikhailov. The punch output's
07:10 good.
07:12 [Music]
07:34 And that's what Bulik has to do really.
07:36 He's got to cover that ground quick. Get
07:38 underneath that jab. Dip low at the waist.
07:41 He's short anyway. Make himself even
07:44 shorter and just come in and if he gets
07:47 a bit careless with the head there, might
07:50 not be the worst thing for him.
07:53 He can make life a bit uncomfortable for Mikhailov.
07:58 [Music]
08:12 Second down, ring three, round three.
08:17 So into the third, Hugo Mikhailov boxing
08:26 out of Monte Carlo in the blue and white.
08:28 Michael Bulik from a Polar in Poland. In
08:33 the black they scheduled for six. Right
08:35 hand into the body was a decent shot
08:36 there from Mikhailov. But Bulik looking
08:39 to be a bit more aggressive at the start
08:41 of round three.
08:43 I think Mikhailov was beginning to get on
08:52 top of him as that second half wore on
08:55 and maybe at the start of the third he's
08:57 decided he needs to give it a bit more of
08:58 a go. Start quick. Maybe put Mikhailov on
09:02 the back foot, the touch. Make him think
09:05 about things a bit more and then maybe
09:06 coast through. One-two comes in there
09:10 from Mikhailov and the referee again
09:13 just telling Bulik off for just turning
09:16 his back there and looking at the
09:17 referee or looking out of the ring. He's
09:20 almost refusing to fight there basically
09:22 and that's what the ref saying to him.
09:23 Listen if you turn your back like that
09:25 and look at me and don't defend
09:26 yourself and he keeps punching I'll have
09:29 to stop it. It's strange from Bulik
09:32 because there's nothing really for him
09:34 to complain about there. But as I said
09:37 Mikhailov is just getting on top of him.
09:39 He's made that quick start I think hoping
09:41 that it would make him think a little
09:43 bit more and then you can kind of coast
09:45 through the rest of it. You see a way
09:47 corner fighters do that. Snapped up with
09:49 a left hand there Bulik but Mikhailov is
09:51 just keeping the heat on him.
09:54 And I wonder if he keeps doing this
09:59 Mikhailov if Bulik will actually just
10:00 look for a way out.
10:02 Staggered a bit by that right hand and
10:14 again just reaching around the back of
10:15 his head another complaint there from
10:17 Bulik really. Mikhailov just piles in
10:19 with that right.
10:21 Into the final minute.
10:33 Good jab from Mikhailov.
10:38 As I said he hasn't had a stoppage yet in six
10:43 fights and tonight would be the night to
10:45 get one. He just needs to keep the
10:46 pressure on. Keep doing what he's doing
10:48 because he's breathing heavily and then
10:50 Al Bulik. Got three rounds remaining
10:52 after this if Mikhailov just keeps the
10:54 heat on he's going to get this done
10:55 inside the distance.
10:57 Right to the body was a good shot.
11:02 And he really doesn't need to do any
11:07 more than what he's doing and has been
11:09 doing the last three rounds.
11:11 Just gets clipped with the right hand
11:20 there Mikhailov but nothing really on it.
11:22 Well that was the incident there where
11:34 the referee was just telling him listen
11:36 you've got to defend yourself at all
11:38 times or I'll have to stop it and he
11:40 made that point to him as he was going
11:41 back to the corner as well. Just above me.
11:44 Just above me.
11:46 [Music]
12:10 [Music]
12:22 So into the second half of this one Hugo
12:24 Mikhailov in the blue and white.
12:26 Michael Bulik in the black.
12:29 And Mikhailov just slowly turning the
12:31 screw here.
12:32 And that's what he needs to continue to do.
12:36 [Music]
12:56 Just short with the jab there Mikhailov.
12:58 [Music]
13:14 Shake for the right hand there Mikhailov.
13:16 Bulik just sunk into the ropes. His
13:18 punch output hasn't been quite as high
13:20 in this round so far.
13:22 From Mikhailov.
13:26 [Music]
13:38 Gum shield has come out there of Bulik and
13:40 the referee immediately calls timeout.
13:41 It was a left hand that landed there
13:43 from Mikhailov.
13:44 He dislodged it.
13:45 [Music]
13:51 There you go.
13:52 [Music]
14:02 [Music]
14:20 [Music]
14:23 There's that winging right hand over the
14:25 top there from Bulik which again just
14:27 kind of rumbles the features of Mikhailov.
14:29 It's not a problem. He's taken two or three
14:31 of them. He dips his head low and just
14:33 flings it right over the top.
14:35 Bulik.
14:37 He's had a good round actually this round
14:39 so far. A minute remaining in it.
14:41 He hasn't won the round but this has been
14:42 the best round he's had of the fight
14:44 up until this point and given what
14:45 happened in the previous two I thought
14:47 that he might be about to unravel but
14:49 he's dug in here.
14:50 Credit to him.
14:52 Nice left hand as well.
14:54 Mikhailov just kind of neglected that
15:09 jab a bit. He hasn't been quite as busy.
15:10 He's maybe been looking for
15:12 a big single shot a bit too much.
15:15 I said in the previous round all he
15:17 needs to do is keep doing what he's been
15:19 doing and he hasn't really done that
15:21 in this round.
15:23 And it's made things a bit more
15:25 comfortable for Bulik than they have
15:28 been previously.
15:30 I was probably his best round of the
15:32 fight there from Bulik I think.
15:57 And they're just whipping that towel in
15:59 the corner up to my right hand side
16:01 getting the air into Bulik who
16:03 is bent double at times.
16:05 Mikhailov is cutting
16:09 a more relaxed figure over in the blue
16:13 corner.
16:14 And that minute would have seemed very
16:18 very short there for Michael Bulik I
16:20 can tell you that.
16:21 And he's got a bit of a
16:24 short there for Michael Bulik I can tell you that.
16:26 Mikhailov quick across the ring.
16:36 Whilst Bulik was gesturing to his
16:40 trainer about clearing up some
16:42 water from the canvas in the corner.
16:45 Mikhailov just needs to get back to those
16:49 basics he showed us in the first three
16:50 rounds. Use that jab.
16:51 Right hand off the back of it.
16:53 Just keep doing that.
16:55 Dip those knees right hand into the body.
16:58 But he's just trying to muscle them in a
17:01 little bit more now.
17:02 That was a good example there.
17:04 That's better.
17:07 Slip in the corner.
17:15 Oh and down goes Mikhailov.
17:21 Well the referee's telling the trainer
17:23 to try and sort that out. I'm not sure
17:25 there's that much he can do to be honest
17:26 because
17:27 if it's sunk into the canvas then
17:30 that'll need some real attention.
17:32 Good left hand there from Bulik.
17:34 Milikov just trying to set his feet and
17:38 get some pep on that right.
17:41 And Bulik has really come back into this.
17:43 I give him some real credit here
17:45 because after three rounds he looked to
17:46 me like
17:47 he didn't really want to be in there
17:50 anymore.
17:51 But he dug it in that previous round
17:54 and he's doing it again here.
17:56 Long right hand there from Mikhailov.
18:03 That was a decent shot.
18:19 Left hand into the body there from Bulik.
18:20 Took the right hand from Mikhailov on the gloves.
18:22 Big left hand there from Bulik has caught
18:25 Mikhailov and that hurt him a little bit.
18:27 You can see the knees just loosen a touch
18:29 and he's in big, big trouble here Mikhailov.
18:31 He really is.
18:32 He's trying to stay away and Bulik needs
18:34 to get on him.
18:35 A minute remaining in the round.
18:37 And if he can find some accurate shots
18:39 here Bulik
18:40 then Mikhailov
18:42 could well go down.
18:44 He cannot let him recover here.
18:46 Bulik.
18:47 Keep letting that left hand go
18:48 because he just clipped him
18:50 as he was coming out high there Mikhailov
18:52 and you could see straight away
18:54 the legs just did that little dance.
18:56 He's got to try and get his legs back
18:57 underneath him
18:58 and get those resistance levels back up
19:00 Mikhailov.
19:01 That's what's key here.
19:02 You'll always hear people talk about
19:04 fighters needing to hold, needing to stay
19:06 away and there's a reason for that.
19:08 If you just fire back when those
19:10 resistance levels are low and you get
19:11 caught again
19:12 then you're done.
19:13 And that's what's key here.
19:15 If you get caught again
19:16 then you're done.
19:17 You've got to give yourself time.
19:19 And Mikhailov hasn't really been caught
19:21 with anything since.
19:22 Final 10 seconds
19:24 and it looks like he's going to be able
19:25 to ride that one out
19:26 but I tell you he was in trouble there.
19:28 He had a real chance there Bulik.
19:36 It's testament to the way that he's come
19:37 back into this fight.
19:38 Well that was decent.
19:44 A bit of a tumble earlier in the round
19:45 a slip in the corner.
19:46 I think this is it now.
19:53 There we go.
19:56 He's just caught standing a little bit tall.
19:58 He's weight in his heels.
19:59 His chin just up in the air a touch
20:01 and it rocked him that left foot.
20:03 Clips the chin.
20:04 And all of a sudden those long limbs.
20:13 Well it all goes a bit bambi on ice
20:14 doesn't it when you've got that kind of build.
20:16 Bulik's just got to try and give it to him
20:21 this sixth and final round.
20:22 So he had a minute to get through
20:27 at the end of the round.
20:28 He's had a minute on the stool.
20:29 Let's see if those legs are right back
20:30 underneath him or not.
20:31 If they're not.
20:36 Well even if they are
20:38 he doesn't need to do anything crazy
20:39 in this final round Mikhailov.
20:40 He won those first four rounds.
20:43 Bulik off the back of that shot
20:45 will have won that fifth.
20:47 A lot of Vaseline on that eyebrow.
20:50 That's crazy.
20:51 The referee surely if he'd seen that
20:52 would have told him to wipe that off.
20:54 But he's just got to play it safe here Mikhailov.
20:57 I've not seen him hurt in his pro career before.
20:59 I think that's probably the first time.
21:02 And the only way this can really go wrong
21:06 is if he decides to be gung-ho in the final round
21:08 and he just doesn't need to.
21:12 Try to get him.
21:13 Follow him on two legs.
21:14 You can do it.
21:16 You can do it.
21:17 The minute has gone.
21:32 I'm not giving you a chance on the point.
21:36 Hit him.
21:38 Hit him.
21:39 He's landed on the chin there of Mikhailov again.
21:41 He's got to be careful.
21:42 He's got just under two minutes remaining here.
21:44 And they'll be a bit nervous in that corner.
21:47 It's never something that you want to happen
21:55 to see your fighter hurt.
21:57 But it's going to happen at some stage.
21:59 And you need to know what happens when it does.
22:01 I don't think they'll necessarily have thought
22:04 that it would occur this evening
22:06 against this type of opponent.
22:07 But he managed to get through that fifth round.
22:10 Bulik will see there's an opportunity missed.
22:15 He did connect with some other punches
22:16 after the one that hurt him.
22:19 But there was a good spell of 20 or 30 seconds there
22:29 where if he just got one more clean through
22:31 then he definitely would have been down and maybe out.
22:36 So a minute to go.
22:37 Looking for that left hand on the inside.
22:57 And Bulik I'm sure would love to give us a grandstand finish.
23:00 But I don't think he's got much left himself to be honest.
23:02 He needed a second wind in the second half of this fight.
23:05 To get to the tape.
23:10 But get to the tape he most certainly will.
23:12 And just again there as he threw that right hand in.
23:29 He leans in, the chin comes up a bit.
23:32 And the left hand came back.
23:34 And it wasn't far away.
23:36 He's got to be careful of that Mikhailov.
23:38 That chin, as I say, does come up every now and again.
23:41 Whether it's because he's on his way back out
23:43 and he's standing a bit tall.
23:45 Or as he dips those knees and reaches for that right hand a bit.
23:49 But that was an interesting fight in the end.
23:51 I thought at halfway that we were going to see Mikhailov
23:53 get his first stoppage.
23:54 But as it turned out, it was a very good fight.
23:58 Now in round five, he had to ride out some really stormy waters.
24:04 He's going to get it on the card.
24:06 [MUSIC PLAYING]

24:15 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:18 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:21 [BLANK_AUDIO]
24:49 Getting those gloves off at the end of a fight can be a lengthy process as we wait
24:54 for our MC just to get a hold of the scores.
24:57 Scoring judges at ringside for all fights in Europe,
25:01 four rounders, six rounders, eight rounders, everything.
25:06 [BLANK_AUDIO]
25:09 Not in all of Europe actually, not in the UK.
25:12 The referee will score it, anything under ten rounds.
25:16 [BLANK_AUDIO]
25:19 [FOREIGN]
25:29 [APPLAUSE]
25:39 [FOREIGN]
25:49 So Mikalev gets it by unanimous decision, that's absolutely fair enough.
26:03 I think he won five out of those six rounds, at the very least four.
26:07 There was never really any doubt about that, but
26:10 he was on the brink there at one point.
26:11 [BLANK_AUDIO]
26:16 >> Thank you very much for joining and first of all, congrats on this victory.
