00:00 On Monday, the cooperative of modern jeepneys in Metro Manila agreed that they will not be allowed to pass through the road.

00:32 The group of jeepney drivers agreed to a stop sign as a lesson in the POV Modernization Program,

00:37 where the traditional jeepneys will be replaced with newer models that are better in terms of safety.

00:43 However, the jeepney drivers said that this is too expensive.

00:46 According to the Department of Transportation and LTFRB,

00:50 the old jeepneys will not be phased out if they are still roadworthy.

00:54 You will finish the provisional authorities because not all provisional authorities end or coincide with the December 31 deadline for consolidation.

01:04 So it's not true that on December 31, when you wake up the next year, everything will be stopped.

01:11 But they need to consolidate as a cooperative before the end of the year.

01:16 LTFRB said that they will not extend the deadline.

01:19 To those who cannot consolidate, the jeepney drivers or operators,

01:24 their franchises will not lose their visas immediately after the deadline on December 31.

01:30 According to the LTFRB data, the consolidated group of jeeps in the country is already at 62.9%.

01:37 72% are in the UVE Express.

01:40 It's time for the franchise to be exhausted and not be able to consolidate by the end of the year.

01:45 They cannot expect government assistance whenever the price of oil increases.

01:51 In August, they will be given a P6,000 QO subsidy due to the big-time oil price hike yesterday.

01:58 Manabela said that it's better for them to be exhausted than to be bounced from the debt in the modernization program.

02:04 If they are being manipulated, instead of thinking of reversing the past,

02:09 the government is talking about not continuing it.
