00:00 Hello and welcome to our latest guide to 5 things to do, and as we creep steadily towards
00:12 the dreaded school holidays, there's plenty more events available that might suit all
00:16 tastes and ages. So with that in mind, here are 5 things for everyone to look forward
00:20 to next week. We start in East Lancashire with some sport
00:24 to change because on the 25th July you can watch the Cone Grand Prix. Experience the
00:29 thrills and spills of street racing with non-stop entertainment right there in the centre of
00:35 town. The race is part of the British Cycling Elite National Circuit Series and takes place
00:39 on a closed road 800m circuit around Cone's one-way system, making for a fast and exciting
00:45 spectacle with some of the top riders in the country taking part. The free event is from
00:50 6.30pm to 9.15pm but please remember that road closures will be in place before the
00:55 race. If that was a bit too energetic for you,
00:59 how about the peace and splendour of the Chorley Flower Show. This three-day event at Astley
01:04 Park features some of the finest professional exhibitors with multiple gold medals from
01:08 the country's largest flower shows and RHS events. National and local societies will
01:13 be displaying their plants and running regional competitions. A gardening theatre will feature
01:18 demonstrations from professional gardeners and a selection of excellent local and national
01:22 horticultural traders for all of your gardening needs. It's all going on between the 28th
01:27 and 30th July and ticket prices vary from day passes to weekend passes and there's
01:32 some special music nights on the Friday and Saturday too so best have a look at their
01:35 website for full details. We stay in Chorley now because on the 28th
01:42 July the fantastic brass ensemble from the world famous Hallé Orchestra will play a
01:46 concert in the picturesque setting of Ribbington Terrace Gardens. A summer's evening of shining
01:52 music for brass where the 12-piece ensemble will present an amazing musical extravaganza
01:57 for the whole family to enjoy. From Baroque to Bond, Puccini to Duke Ellington and Queen.
02:03 Set in the natural amphitheatre of the Great Lawn in the Gardens, it promises to be an
02:07 unforgettable experience. Food and refreshments are available or bring a picnic. Tickets for
02:13 adults are £23.50 and for children 5 and above it's £13.50.
02:19 Right now one for the much smaller children as we visit Morecambe for some slapstick comedy
02:24 and fun. The Winter Gardens in the town is holding 45 minutes of music and film for children
02:29 aged 5 and upwards and of course their grown-ups. Saturday Slapstick is a show which brings
02:35 live-scored silent film alive for children and includes opportunities to join in with
02:39 making music and sound effects. You'll make your own musical instruments to play during
02:43 the show and there'll be a free musical instrument making workshop beforehand at 3 o'clock.
02:49 There'll be cushions and beanbags at the front of the auditorium as well as traditional
02:52 theatre seating. Children and babies of all ages are welcome on the 29th of July at 4
02:58 o'clock. Adults tickets are £12.50 and children between 6 and 18 are £6 and under 5 are free.
03:07 Lastly, I've read this about three times and I still don't understand it but on Sunday
03:11 the 30th of July at Averland Park in Preston you can witness something called 'The Most
03:16 Wuthering Heights Day Ever'. Ticket holders are getting ready to fling themselves about
03:21 with wild abandon in an attempt to embrace something joyous and fun by re-enacting the
03:26 iconic Kate Bush Wuthering Heights music video from 1978. The original idea for the event
03:32 was started in 2013 by a Brighton-based arts group and was given a now widely used name
03:37 'The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever' by Samantha Waring in Berlin in 2016. It has
03:43 since become a worldwide phenomenon. Have a look at YouTube if you don't believe me.
03:47 There will be lead dancers on the day who will walk participants through the dance step
03:51 by step before performing the final dance all together. Tickets to actually take part
03:56 have now sold out but it's probably something you need to see to believe if you're passing
04:00 and just want to have a go on your own and any charitable donations given on the day
04:03 will still go to Lancashire Mind and Preston Domestic Violence Service. I always like to
04:10 point out how varied these shows are every week but that is going to take some beating.
