Transcript
00:00 Thanks for joining us guys. Big milestones this weekend in Big V Basketball. 200 games
00:05 for yourself James and 350 for yourself Tim. Can you tell me what that means to you?
00:11 It means a lot to make 200 games. Growing up as a little kid all I wanted to do was
00:17 play A game for the Warrnambool Seahawks and run around watching these guys play and hoping
00:21 I'd be out there one day. So to see me down the track and actually have made it to 200
00:26 is something I'm really proud of. I don't look at the individual stuff too much but
00:31 it's nice to reflect back on all those games and all the players I've played with and
00:36 how much a part of my life that's been. So I'm really grateful for that. And then obviously
00:41 playing with Tim. Tim's been one of my first coaches and my mentors and he's one of my
00:46 best mates. Always enjoyed playing on the court with him and I think he'd be close to
00:51 the greatest player we've ever had here. He's coached when we've needed coaches. He's been
00:56 our captain, he's been our MVP, Defensive Player of the Year. Basically whatever role
01:00 Tim needs to fill for the club he just steps in and does it. Never complains and he's a
01:06 big reason why the club is what it is today. Definitely an honour to be able to get a milestone
01:12 next to his as well.
01:14 Yeah, it's a long journey I guess. Came out in 2006 with the help of Barry Brooks and
01:21 John Bowman and Bob Cunningham. Looking back there's a lot of history there. A lot of players
01:28 coming through, a lot of coaches coming through, a lot of committee members and presidents
01:34 and all kids playing through. There's multiple kids that played at high levels. Obviously
01:39 Nathan Sobey, Sean Gleeson and a lot of others. Just reflecting back, Australia's always been
01:47 my second home. I've probably spent half of my life here now. These guys like Mitch and
01:56 a few others keeping me young and always making it such a good time to play basketball. That's
02:02 why I play the game. I'm like Mitch, never play for the individual accolades but when
02:08 you look back at things it's good to be looked at as that person that's looked up to and
02:17 helped them along their journey as well. I have nothing to say but thanks to everyone
02:24 from Barr and Mia. Looking forward to a great Saturday night when play gets going.
02:31 What do you enjoy playing with Mitch?
02:34 We talk every day. It means a lot to watch his progress and his hard work outside of
02:45 training. The activities we get up to, it's probably not good on camera, but our families
02:52 are close. His mom Joy and his dad Graham, they've been very close to my family as well.
03:00 They've looked after my children and babysat. We do Christmases together. The overall picture
03:09 is you get that person that you're close with and I'm proud to see what they've accomplished
03:17 in life. He's an optometrist now so going from being that little guy that asks you question
03:27 after question after question when you're in a manual to now is mind-blowing what he's
03:35 achieved. I don't mind doing this day with him on Saturday.
03:41 Congratulations guys and good luck on Saturday.
03:43 Thank you.
