00:00 Kuya Kim, some of us have a minimalist style, right?
00:04 But there are also maximalists?
00:06 That's right.
00:07 You know, just by the sound of it, it's impossible not to notice the style of fashion.
00:11 You're right, Kuya Kim.
00:13 But even if the battle is grand, it doesn't mean that it will be a battle against the cost.
00:18 That's the story of...
00:20 Katrina Son!
00:21 Colorful, big prints, and...
00:27 Patong-patong! That's the fashion style of 24-year-old Yana.
00:32 This is the style that uses bright colors, big patterns, and oversized accessories.
00:39 Her chosen style looks exaggerated, but you won't be able to spend everything.
00:46 So, let's maximize it!
00:54 Since 2017, Yana has been a maximalist fashion model and clothing technology graduate.
01:01 I was still in college, I always wanted to layer my outfits.
01:06 I always feel like I'm just wearing a top and a skirt.
01:11 I'm a bit basic for me.
01:13 There are a lot of designers who make maximalist fashion.
01:16 You really need a lot of clothes to be able to match all of these.
01:21 It's not like you have to spend a lot to achieve a multi-layered fashion style.
01:26 Now, I have 100 pieces, so I just mix and match them.
01:31 Maybe for someone who wants to start in maximalist fashion,
01:35 you can do what I did before, where I just wear a lot of clothes.
01:40 Even now, I still wear a lot of clothes.
01:43 With the amount of things you can mix and match when it comes to maximalist fashion,
01:48 can it also be done in a hot climate in our country?
01:51 Even though I'm a maximalist, I have times that what I layer are more of lingerie.
02:00 But it's still maximalism because of the layering, because of how I pair the patterns and the prints.
02:07 Usually, I don't depend on the weather.
02:11 Usually, I depend on what I feel.
02:14 In 2016, Abigail experienced bullying because of her body.
02:20 That's why she became more daring in what she wears.
02:23 She says this is a way to boost her self-confidence.
02:26 Because I used to be really fat.
02:28 Then in 2019, that's when I started to lose weight.
02:31 That's when my confidence in wearing daring clothes boosted.
02:35 So my fashion sense is street style.
02:38 Since I'm a dancer, I'm more exposed to street style.
02:42 This is one of my favorite crop tops that I wear because it's colorful and cool on the body.
02:48 I like also to wear nude colors like this one since I'm morena.
02:53 It matches the tone of my body.
02:56 To share the positivity that maximalist fashion brings,
03:00 we got to know another fashionista, Abigail, to try this look.
03:06 I just prepared pieces here.
03:09 This is the first layer of our outfit for Abigail.
03:12 We focused on the butterfly top.
03:15 I got the color red, pink, and blue.
03:19 Now, we'll add other pieces.
03:22 This is Abigail's whole look.
03:30 I layered more daring pieces.
03:35 There are three skirts right now.
03:37 It's all complementing well with the colors.
03:40 I wasn't aware of maximalist fashion.
03:44 When I heard about it, I was excited because I like to try new things.
03:49 It boosts my confidence.
03:51 You can see it here if you're confident in yourself.
03:54 You should know that when you start with maximalist fashion,
03:59 you should just hide your clothes.
04:01 I just layered the layers.
04:04 Because maximalism is more of excess.
04:07 If you feel beautiful in your outfits, why not?
04:11 Clothing gives us confidence,
04:15 but we should trust ourselves first.
04:18 No matter what kind of clothes we wear, we should be caring.
04:22 I'm Katrina Son, and that's the story you should know.
