00:00 A sad poem on a Leipzig train.
00:04 Some sings o' ships and flying bombs That hurtle through the air.
00:09 Some lay caprizi resource, A greyhound or a hare,
00:12 But o' aye things that ever spade in air, On land or sea,
00:18 There's the only one that I would choose A Leipzig train for me.
00:23 Had wis not just an ordinary train At Rennes we aye shither,
00:28 Had his till wait in Soudiennes Till make room for another.
00:32 It had a line all till it sailed, It had five stations too,
00:37 A deal o' thing till how did back Except an ant ran coo.
00:42 He dinnae gee a scrap for win, Or hail, or time, or rain,
00:47 But should away contended, late till week, And back again.
00:52 Had wandered on his canny way, Though spade with some fouts cry,
00:57 But fout would want till tear till week, So long as week was dry.
01:04 A train's at Rondon and a soothe, Or no a train's at lake,
01:08 For if you want till catch them, You nearly brack your neck.
01:11 But we a Leipzig train, A dinnae need till mind,
01:16 If Chorag saw you comin', You wisnae leave behind.
01:20 Had carried kings and commoners, Fenders and fountains, pens,
01:25 And doos and dowgs and doormats, And coos and clockin' hens.
01:30 We took it just for granted, Thought it would aye run on,
01:35 But fortune was against us, And noo were trainies gone.
01:39 They said it didnae pay its wee, They said it wisnae worth,
01:44 To those in high authority It comeward up the earth.
01:48 And noo, in place o' a head's dird And cheerful homely din,
01:52 There's nothing but a scorry's cry, And wee reef whistlin' wind.
01:58 But foremost in my memories, O pleasure or o pain,
02:02 I'll gee a place o honour till, My poor wee Leipzig train.
02:06 [Applause]
