00:00 You got to do it one last time for me, man
00:02 Welcome to Ms Mojo and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10
00:11 underappreciated tv show finales that deserve more recognition
00:15 No, billy, I really I want you to know that I really do appreciate it
00:20 Don't worry about it for this list
00:24 We'll be looking at final episodes that might have received praise upon release
00:27 but aren't talked about nearly as much as everyone's waiting felina or other classic finales
00:33 They should be though since we're discussing endings a few spoilers are inevitable
00:37 Which series finale do you think needs more love give them their due in the comments
00:42 Number 10 return zero person of interest john this wasn't supposed to be the way sure it is
00:54 This is what I do remember despite regularly performing well in the ratings cbs cancelled
01:00 this acclaimed sci-fi crime drama going into its fifth season the showrunners had ideas for a sixth
01:05 season but they ultimately had to resolve all lingering plot lines in just 13 episodes
01:10 regardless season five doesn't feel rushed with the finale leaving us on a tragic yet
01:15 highly satisfying note as our heroes make their last stand against the ai samaritan
01:20 I helped bring you into this world now i'm going to help usher you out
01:26 While it garnered perfect scores from several tv critics return zero only attracted around 6.5
01:35 million viewers and went mostly overlooked on the awards trail with the danger surrounding ai
01:40 only becoming prevalent in recent years the finale and the series as a whole deserve a
01:44 reevaluation and a revival and maybe this isn't the end at all
01:51 Number nine everybody dies house house was among the most popular medical dramas throughout its
02:04 run but the final season arrived without much fanfare season eight scored no emmy nominations
02:10 not even for hugh laurie's iconic performance or the last episode everybody dies every patient had
02:16 70 years from now i'll be as dead as wilson everybody dies it's meaningless although there
02:24 were admittedly better seasons of house the finale sticks the landing with the cynical doctor taking
02:28 a trip down memory lane while contemplating his future or if he'll even have a future worth staying
02:34 around for you'll go to jail for years you can never be a doctor again i'm dead wilson
02:44 how do you want to spend your last five months several fan favorites return to say goodbye
02:52 including 13 but the heart of the episode boils down to the friendship between house
02:57 and wilson when the cancer starts getting really bad cancer is boring considering that house was
03:07 the sherlock of the medical world everybody dies naturally channels the final problem
03:12 with our protagonist writing off alongside his watson number eight always friday night lights
03:18 friday night lights went underappreciated for most of its run constantly being on the
03:23 chopping blocks of cancellation a passionate fan base and glowing reviews helped the underdog show
03:28 reach the end zone delivering a touchdown of an ending you may never know how proud i am of you
03:34 changed my life coach always would win an emmy for jason caitlin's script as well as
03:42 kyle chandler's performance even with these accolades always deserves a much wider spotlight
03:48 jude taylor will he marry me
03:53 yes the finale delivers in every respect with romance suspense and life-altering decisions
04:10 of course there's also football but this show was never about the game it was about the people
04:15 who played and loved it nowhere is this better exemplified than the ending montage as we see
04:20 life go on following a crucial play that's ultimately kind of an afterthought clear eyes full
04:26 hearts and we'll deal with that later number seven changing nature dinosaurs dad you're gonna coat the
04:37 entire continent with poison isn't there some safer alternative like what well like trim back
04:43 the vines as much as we can live with a little discomfort and hope that nature eventually
04:49 restores the balance we all remember how this sitcom ends but audiences remain split on whether
04:54 it's among the best or worst finales well maybe we went a little overboard with the poison a little
05:01 your stupid spray killed all plant life hey what are you complaining about you never like salads
05:07 anyway some argue that it was too dark for a family-friendly show traumatizing young viewers
05:13 others countered that despite the playful aesthetic dinosaurs was always more mature
05:17 than some remember plus seeing how dinosaurs aren't around anymore it's not like this ending
05:22 came out of nowhere we're going to have the best third quarter in history uh sir i think this could
05:28 be the last third quarter in history we've gone back and forth but we've come to truly appreciate
05:33 just how bleak and fearless this ending is part of that might be because of how it mirrors our
05:38 current circumstances with corporate greed at an all-time high and the environment being taken for
05:43 granted dinosaurs have been on the surf for 150 million years and it's not like we're going to
05:49 just disappear earl says that dinosaurs can't simply disappear and humans are just as blindly
05:56 self-assured number six exit event silicon valley the final season of this tech savvy comedy received
06:04 a single emmy nomination for sound editing in the last episode it deserved so much more but we guess
06:09 this is oddly appropriate for the pied piper gang is this a good thing or a bad thing someone tell
06:15 me how to feel abject terror for you build from there after several seasons of embarrassments
06:22 setbacks and the occasional triumph it appears richard and company may finally come out on top
06:27 alas richard's luck doesn't change and he's forced to choose between realizing his dream
06:32 and doing what's best for the rest of the world we have given six sleepless brutal years to this
06:39 project and i am so proud of what we've done maybe that's why this finale is often pushed aside
06:49 it's unsatisfying but in all the right ways our hero's downfall is cleverly accompanied by a
06:54 documentary chronicling life after pied piper leaving us on a hilariously tragic note that
07:00 somehow still delivers closure no i'm i'm happy and you don't you don't feel bad that you never got to
07:07 make the world a better place uh i think we did okay number five cryogenics lightning last review
07:20 speaking of tragic comedy few characters left us laughing while simultaneously breaking our hearts
07:25 like forrest mcneil i have a review request what's it like to spend the rest of your life
07:32 not reviewing anything determined to review life forest winds up destroying his life as viewers
07:38 and their requests consume him the finale provides for us with a way out as his ex-wife requests
07:44 slash begs him to give up reviewing and reunite with his family aj i will now veto this review
07:50 no yes grant initiate the protocol forest decision is infuriating yet completely on brand his choice
07:59 is only made more devastating slash funny given the fate of the show he gave everything up for
08:04 it's a somewhat meta ending for a show that unfortunately was never huge in the ratings
08:10 and seemed to have a lot more life left in it yet we can't think of a more fitting final
08:14 curtain for forest if i have one criticism it's that this prank was not really all that believable
08:20 because what kind of a universe would be cruel enough to allow review to be cancelled
08:25 right after i chose it over my family number four start the americans what's going on the fbi knows
08:32 about us we have to leave for good they almost caught me i i don't go where home you have to
08:39 pack a bag the essentials almost nothing a book bag would be fine and then we'll answer questions
08:44 later you mean russia for years the americans was virtually every critic's go-to answer for the most
08:50 underrated show on tv it wasn't until the final season that it started to get proper recognition
08:56 the last episode won emmys for writing and matthew reese's performance but numerous audiences have
09:01 yet to discover this masterful espionage drama and i don't even know what happens if we make it home
09:07 because after all these years of being scared of americans and recruiting americans and following
09:14 americans we finally we actually got something and that has nothing to do with you the nail
09:19 biting heart-wrenching finale sees two characters in particular make impossible choices one comes
09:25 down to duty versus friendship the other concerns family versus independence as the book is closed
09:31 on these characters nobody is sure if they made the right call on a storytelling basis though we
09:36 wouldn't have ended the story any other way of course we wouldn't say no to a sequel series
09:41 addressing the current conflict with russia they'll remember us
09:44 and they're not kids anymore
09:53 we raised them number three i done the fresh prince of bel-air fresh prince's final bow by
10:05 no means went unnoticed attracting over 19 million viewers in terms of ratings and water cooler
10:11 conversations though it didn't capture the zeitgeist like some other 90s sitcom finales did
10:16 looking back i done delivers pretty much everything you can ask for in an ending each character is
10:22 given time to shine with some of the funniest running gags taken out for a last hurrah
10:32 it's not unusual to have fun with anyone there's even room for a few cameos that
10:38 thankfully don't distract from the main cast at night you can hear the wailing of the dead
10:44 who's talking about will
10:49 it's the last scene that gets us as will says goodbye to the banks family
10:56 one by one i love you uncle phil and i just don't want to lose you you know any of you
11:01 phew you're not gonna lose us you are my son will end of story when he arrived he was the
11:11 outsider nephew slash cousin he grew into a full-fledged family member who made the now
11:16 empty mansion full i am definitely gonna miss you see number two gordimer versus the end gordimer
11:25 gibbons life on normal street talk about underappreciated we're willing to wager that you
11:31 haven't heard of this amazon series gordimer gibbons is a hidden gem however building to a
11:36 genuinely profound finale gordimer tell me why did they cancel your wonderful radio program
11:43 you actually listened to that oh everyone they were delightful blending fantasy with reality
11:52 this series captures the essence of a daydream brought to life that daydream reaches its end
11:58 with gordimer having to leave normal street and his friends behind i know you're only going to
12:03 be three hours away and i know we're going to stay friends and i know this isn't really goodbye
12:09 but it doesn't make it any easier to watch you leave the finale works in several callbacks as
12:19 gordimer contemplates what awaits him we're left on a bittersweet note that doesn't sugarcoat the
12:24 heartache that comes with every closing chapter this just means another chapter is waiting to
12:30 be written though it may bring more sadness it may bring joy the important thing is that
12:35 we keep writing seeing where the story takes us next i've lived my whole life on normal street

12:58 number one the book of nora the leftovers not nearly enough people watch this critical favorite
13:06 during its initial run but history should remember the leftovers as one of the greats
13:11 going into the series you might assume it's about the rapture by the time you reach the final
13:16 episode you'll realize the show was never about that it was always a love story that just so
13:21 happened to take place against a supernatural backdrop so you're saying you've never been here
13:26 before this is your first time in australia well you're really gonna keep this up
13:32 keep what up carrie coon gives the performance of a lifetime as nora whose long-awaited reunion
13:40 with alex is capped with a haunting monologue about an alternate reality over here we lost
13:47 some of them but over there they lost all of us whether or not nora is telling the truth
13:55 doesn't matter what does matter is that these two are right where they belong
14:00 making the most of this reality as their romance resumes why wouldn't i believe you
