00:07 How are you feeling?
00:08 Um, I don't know. Actually pretty cool.
00:12 Are you a fan of football?
00:14 I'm not a football fan at all, but I really grew a tremendous amount of respect for football when I did this.
00:19 It hurts a lot. It really hurts. We went to football camp and all kinds of stuff and I felt it.
00:26 I can play with Roosevelt, but I cannot play with these guys.
00:31 I'll tell you what, I didn't want to be on the bench all year so I could watch us go down on my own camp.
00:35 Look at Petey again. He's better.
00:37 So you never played before?
00:39 No, no. I got beat up by football players a lot, but I never played it.
00:43 So it was fun, you know, to be a jock.
00:45 [Whistle blows]
00:46 [Laughter]
00:49 There's a fine line between tough and crazy and you're flirting with it.
00:53 [Whistle blows]
00:56 How is Ben Zappos?
00:58 He's pretty awesome, you know. He demands a lot of respect just on screen and off.
01:06 He just really, I think, brought us together as a team.
01:09 I just think he, looking back on it, I think he just had such a vision for what he wanted to do with us.
01:16 He just really kind of was our coach.
01:19 Football is about controlling that anger, harnessing that aggression into a team effort to achieve perfection.
01:28 I think Coach Boone was just such a, he was just exceptional, you know,
01:32 and I don't think anyone has really experienced anything like that except for these people.
01:36 I mean, he's pretty incredible.
01:37 But I know on this film, you know, Denzel just really kind of became him, you know,
01:41 and didn't accept anything less than perfect form.
01:45 We will be perfect in every aspect of the game.
01:49 You drop a pass, you run a mile.
01:51 You miss a blocking assignment, you run a mile.
01:54 You fumble the football and I will break my foot off in your John Brown hind parts.
02:00 And then you will run a mile.
02:02 We'd be doing takes and I'm just not an athlete so I would just, you know, screw up, you know,
02:06 as an unathletic and he just, you know, in the middle of the take would run up and like
02:11 rip me by the pants and throw me off screen and he'd go, "Get out of here."
02:15 And, you know, that's good.
02:17 That was great.
02:18 It was good for me.
02:19 And it's in the film too.
02:20 I mean, you see he flips this guy up and gives him a wedgie and that was me.
02:23 So he just, he made us do it.
