00:00 I'm Ezra Raya reporting on the hottest issues and the biggest stories.
00:05 This is the Manila Times.
00:07 President Bongbong Marcos has concluded his second State of the Nation Address, and some
00:12 sectors are outraged for not being included in the President's sauna.
00:17 Jeepney drivers' groups were not mentioned, despite holding their transport rally or "tigil
00:23 pasada" on the very same day.
00:26 Here with us is Liga ng Transportasyon at Operators sa Pilipinas, El Top National President
00:33 Orlando Marquez.
00:35 Welcome to the Manila Times, sir.
00:36 Sir, the President's State of the Nation Address of his second sauna has just ended,
00:42 but our jeepney drivers were not mentioned.
00:45 What is your reaction?
00:47 We are not feeling bad about it.
00:50 We have subsidies for the equity of buying motorization.
01:02 He increased our equity to P160,000 and now he has increased it to P360,000.
01:13 So it's a big thing for us.
01:21 That's why we, first of all, the people working for Secretary Bautista, we are talking to
01:27 them.
01:28 We are confident that he will mention it or not.
01:31 What's important is that it's for the benefit of the people.
01:35 That's what we heard.
01:36 We are also concerned because our Secretary is taking our problems to court, along with
01:44 Chairman Guadis of LTFRB.
01:47 That's why we are not feeling bad about such things.
01:51 Maybe one day, we will face our President BBM.
01:56 As his supporter, it's a big thing for the economy, especially in agriculture.
02:07 That's why our President did not mention our transportation.
02:13 I'm calling on our people that what's important for us is the benefit and the department that
02:25 is involved in this, we are giving space and we are following the benefits of transportation
02:35 so we can deliver the good and better public transport.
02:41 Sir how about the jeepney phaseout sir?
02:45 The door of our jeep is located in a point called by international engineers, it's located
02:53 in a wayside door.
02:56 That's why we should fix the so-called safe side door.
03:02 I have been working in a jeepney in Makati for a long time, almost 24 years now.
03:09 My air-conditioned jeepney, I followed the Philippine national standard that the door
03:18 is located in a wayside door. Our passengers can walk inside and it's front-facing.
03:28 Our Secretary has said that it's clear that jeepneys that are beautiful, as long as they pass through the MBIC,
03:38 and follow the compliance, especially the Euro for Compliance, can be registered.
03:45 That's what our Secretary Bautista and Chairman Guadiz said.
03:50 In a phone interview, Manibela National President Mar Valbuena and the leader of the three-day
03:57 Tigil Pasada or transport strike said that they are gravely disappointed at the President's disregard of jeepney drivers
04:05 and the public transport sector as a whole in this year's SONA.
04:09 Valbuena added that this shows that there are underlying problems that need to be addressed within the sector.
