00:00 Stormy times in the east could lead to slowdowns for travelers on Tuesday, while the heat could also cause a few hang-ups.
00:07 Jeff Cornish has details on tonight's travel outlook.
00:10 We do have some midweek travel trouble, and on Tuesday specifically, some of the worst of our issues will be near I-95,
00:17 with some gusty thunderstorms in the afternoon, especially places like Baltimore and Washington,
00:22 and even up into New York City, we could see some gusty, strong thunderstorms.
00:26 The heat's also a big story. You don't want to break down in the big-time heat in the southwest.
00:31 As we look at the travel trouble, city by city, well, a couple of brief showers in the morning in Seattle and in Portland,
00:37 a little cooler there, into areas like Helena, Montana, turning breezy in the afternoon.
00:42 Scattered thunderstorms will break out into Salt Lake City and areas around Denver as well.
00:47 Near Phoenix, we could see some convection, scattered thunderstorms, but it doesn't look like a sure bet in the city.
00:52 It's a little more likely in the high ground outside of town.
00:56 And in San Francisco, we do have a little bit of a breeze in the afternoon, but there won't be much travel trouble tied to that.
01:01 Scattered thunderstorms will break out also into Casper and Bismarck, or at least surrounding areas in the afternoon.
01:06 We'll have to keep an eye on the local radar scan.
01:08 Into New Orleans in the afternoon, to Florida, scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon,
01:12 some ponding of water on the roads, a typical concern this time of the year, and tomorrow is no exception.
01:17 But into Tuesday's forecast farther north, we look good for the Ohio Valley, still smoky in Chicago.
01:22 Scattered storms break out, though, from Detroit to the east, much of the northeast.
01:26 We'll see numerous thunderstorms, at least a lot of areas will see more than one or two storms at some point,
01:32 or at least showers in between.
01:33 And the best chance for severe weather will be D.C. and Baltimore, with some risk up into Philadelphia and New York as well.
01:38 We are looking at a pretty significant number, about 600 cancellations likely tomorrow,
01:42 with many of those coming from the northeast.
01:44 So be careful out there. Back to you.
