00:00 The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines explained after the President mentioned to his second SONA yesterday

00:14 Special mention of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines in SONA yesterday.

00:19 Because some of its projects were delayed.

00:21 68 grid connections are much delayed according to the ERC's count.

00:27 We are conducting a performance review of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

00:34 In 68 of those, 37 were initiated by the Energy Regulatory Commission's show-cause order on July 6.

00:42 31 were studied by the ERC.

00:45 The delays have even exceeded 8 years in some projects.

00:51 Therefore, there is a need to speed this up because the country can't wait for 8 to 10 years for a project to be finished.

01:00 But the NGCP's goal in the ERC is still partial.

01:03 The NGCP has until the end of the month to complete its explanation.

01:08 You can say that it's not complete, you penalize it.

01:13 But is that where it ends?

01:15 What's important here is not the penalty itself but the fact that the project should be completed.

01:23 The NGCP said that 7 out of 37 projects in the show-cause order are already completed.

01:30 They also said that they will continue some even if it's not enough in the regulatory approval because the grid is needed.

01:36 They also say that the problems in the right-of-way and other requirements of the LGUs are being addressed.

01:41 The NGCP has initiatives like what we wrote in the Supreme Court to ask for help and support regarding the expropriation process.

01:55 We also asked the DILG to help us streamline the requirements for permitting.

02:02 The NGCP commented on what the President said.

02:05 It underlines the importance of the NGCP's work that we are the enablers of power stability.

02:14 He calls for a whole of government approach and I think it was really a call for patriotism.

02:20 The government's national goals cannot be achieved by a government agency.
