00:03 Now what the New York Mets are doing here,
00:05 their shell is at the deadline,
00:06 but I completely agree with this.
00:07 Sure, Steve Cohen could have went out
00:09 and traded prospects and added payroll
00:11 to see if they can make a run.
00:12 But basically that would have been fool's gold.
00:14 This team's not as constructed
00:16 going to win anything at this point,
00:17 already trading Scherzer.
00:19 We'll see if Verlander's out,
00:20 Kanha gets traded,
00:21 but here's what I do like about the New York Mets
00:23 and the reason why deep pocketed owners
00:26 can take advantage of some moves at the deadline.
00:28 They move Kanha to the Brewers,
00:30 but you know what they do?
00:31 Hey, let me stroke a check for a few million dollars
00:33 so you give me back a better prospect in return.
00:36 We'll pay a lot of Kanha salary,
00:38 you give us an elevated prospect,
00:40 smart moves by the Mets.
00:41 It didn't work out,
00:42 there's no use to pressing your chips into the table,
00:45 take some of those chips off the table
00:47 and move them to next year, Joe.
00:48 I like what the Mets are doing, I do.
00:50 Well, you know, it's better to admit your,
00:55 you know, your mistakes
00:56 and try to figure out how to get the exit strategy in place
01:00 and move on and that's exactly what the Mets are doing.
01:04 You know, pushing off Kanha too as well,
01:07 being able to ship him over to the Brewers
01:10 who are desperately trying to figure anything out
01:12 in that lineup that would require,
01:14 that will help them score runs here,
01:16 which again was my fear at the start of the season
01:19 with this team.
01:21 And I believe what?
01:22 It was kind of a one, maybe a minor leaguer or two there
01:27 that it got back, a couple of arms maybe for the Mets.
01:30 So, and he's 34, so the Mets are doing all the things
01:35 that they need to do in order to prep for, guess what?
01:38 Next season.
01:40 And they run at maybe the biggest free agent
01:43 in our lifetime that we're gonna see here.
01:45 And certainly the one that's gonna garner the most money
01:48 and the most attention.
01:49 So, I do think that that decision was probably made,
01:53 Donnie, maybe a little over a month ago
01:56 and now they're executing the exit strategy
01:59 from the off season moves and you got to appreciate it.
02:01 It's a tough pill to swallow for a Met fan,
02:04 but the reality is it's the right move.
