00:00 Hi, I'm Catherine McInnes and I'm a carer for Fraser Home Care.
00:04 What are the best parts of working in the care sector?
00:07 Just knowing that you make a difference for people's lives,
00:11 whether it's something little or it's a big impact,
00:14 it's just amazing. It's just really rewarding.
00:18 I started in Fraser Home Care and actually progressed into Fraser Elite,
00:22 so that's a step into the private sector of care.
00:26 And also getting the SVQs and stuff like that,
00:30 that's a really big opportunity as well.
00:33 I worked in March Spencer before, so I literally...
00:35 It was totally different than working in a shop,
00:40 so, yeah, it's so different.
00:42 It's also different, but I'm so glad I did it.
00:44 Well, it's just like getting people up for breakfast,
00:48 getting them ready for the day,
00:50 whether it's getting them washed or even doing their hair,
00:53 their makeup and stuff like that.
00:55 It can be just going in for a chat, really.
00:58 That's sometimes all they really want.
01:00 And then lunchtime and then dinnertime and then bedtime, really.
01:05 So that's just putting them to bed.
01:08 But, yeah, it's just... That's it, yeah.
01:12 So how long have you been working for Fraser Elite?
01:15 Just a year. So I've been with the company for literally a year
01:19 and then I started at Fraser Home Care
01:21 and now I moved to just a few months after I started.
01:24 So I've been here for a year. Yeah.
01:27 And so what's the team like here?
01:31 Amazing. They're so supportive.
01:33 I mean, the people in the office are so supportive
01:35 and I know a lot of the carers as well.
01:37 They... Everyone raves about them.
01:39 Like, everyone is so good at their jobs
01:41 and it's just... They're just so supportive.
01:44 Everyone is so supportive of everyone, so it's really good.
01:47 I feel like I'm a lot more confident person now.
01:50 Even, like, knowing that I'm doing a difference,
01:54 it's so... Like, my health, my mental health anyway,
01:58 from being in, like, a job in a retail,
02:01 you don't really get a lot of job satisfaction.
02:03 But for this job, it's just amazing.
02:06 You can even go down, like, the nursing route as well
02:09 and, like, the SVQs.
02:10 You can work your way up into becoming a team leader here
02:16 and even, like, working in the office and stuff like that,
02:18 doing more, like, work
02:19 and then more involved around the clients as well.
02:24 What are the SVQs?
02:26 So, they're qualifications that you can lead up to.
02:28 So, you can go to, like, college for them
02:30 or you can do them through Fraser Home Care.
02:34 So, you can work towards, like, there's SVQ3.
02:38 It just progresses
02:40 and you get, like, an actual qualification at the end of it.
02:43 So, you have to do it within five years of actually going into care.
02:47 So, it's, like, a requirement that you have to do at least an SVQ.
02:52 So, yeah, that just gives you more qualifications
02:54 under your belt and stuff like that.
02:55 So, it is really good.
02:57 I mean, it's not just a care job.
02:59 You can get qualifications and it'll lead you on different paths.
03:03 So, would you recommend a job here at Fraser Elite?
03:06 Oh, my gosh, 100%. 100%.
03:09 I mean, I've never worked within our company,
03:11 but I don't think I ever would want to
03:13 because they are so supportive here
03:14 and the clients are amazing.
03:16 Like, everyone is just so, so nice.
03:18 So, so nice.
03:20 Yeah, and they just, again, support you no matter what.
03:23 So, it's good.
