00:04 Metropolitan Manila Development Authority or MMDA is now going to label motorcycle riders
00:10 who are riding under overpasses, footbridges, and flyovers when it's raining heavily.
00:16 But there are some rules here.
00:18 Can this policy be violated?
00:21 This video went viral on social media
00:24 where you can see some riders riding under a footbridge
00:28 because of the sudden rain.
00:30 But this became the reason for the traffic to tighten
00:34 because some riders took over some lanes on the road.
00:38 That's why MMDA started issuing tickets
00:41 to motorcycle riders who are riding under overpasses and flyovers when it's raining heavily.
00:48 When it's raining heavily, visibility is low,
00:52 and when they are under footbridges or MRTs,
00:56 a large percentage of accidents happen.
01:01 At the MMDA monitoring center this Tuesday,
01:04 it was also found that three lanes of the road were blocked
01:09 on the northbound lane in Cubao, Edsa
01:11 which is the reason for the slow traffic.
01:14 The riders left when they saw people coming from MMDA.
01:20 But some riders did not agree to the agency's policy.
01:25 That's not right sir because just like the sudden rain,
01:30 it really stopped because there's a lot of traffic.
01:36 In a privileged speech,
01:37 One Rider Party List representative Bonifacio Bucita called
01:42 the so-called MMDA blockade inhumane.
01:46 They are pushing the riders who don't have a footbridge to the overpass
01:51 because they will speed up the motorcycle when it rains.
02:00 We are asking our President,
02:03 His Excellency President Ferdinand Bongbong Romualdez Marcos Jr.
02:09 for protection against the unlawful implementation of MMDA.
02:15 MMDA is also talking to gas station owners to put a tent
02:22 that can be used by riders when it rains heavily.
02:26 I am Lilian Tiburcio, I stand for tools.
