Could Deshaun Watson & The Browns Surprise People In 2023?

00:02 2020 is a long time ago.
00:04 I don't think Deshaun Watson even at the peak of his abilities is the best
00:07 quarterback in this division.
00:09 He's probably not even the second best quarterback in this division in my
00:12 estimation.
00:12 Joe Burrow by far holds that mantle and the success backs that up.
00:16 Lamar Jackson's the only quarterback in this division that's won an MVP award
00:21 because Deshaun Watson last year in six starts averaged 184 yards per game.
00:26 Only had seven touchdowns to five interceptions with a 58.2% completion
00:31 percentage.
00:31 And a lot of people are going to tell me he only played six games after serving
00:35 the 11 game suspension, albeit his fault in that matter.
00:39 But 2020 was a long time ago.
00:41 He hasn't played a lot of football in the last two and a half, three years.
00:45 And I'm not expecting a ton out of Deshaun Watson or
00:48 the Cleveland Browns this season, Mark Zinno.
00:50 >> It's hard for me to argue with you.
00:53 Again, I don't know that that guy is ever coming back and
00:55 walking through the tunnel in an NFL game again.
00:58 It's very tough.
01:00 But if some version of him comes back,
01:02 they're gonna be a lot better than expected.
01:04 And again, it's hard for me to believe that in two short years,
01:08 where a guy's only 27 years old, he's completely forgotten how to play the
01:11 position of quarterback in football.
01:13 I'll give him a little bit of a pass in the idea that, look,
01:15 he had very little warm up time during his 11 game suspension to get up to game
01:19 speed and everything else.
01:20 He wasn't allowed to be around the team, wasn't allowed to practice,
01:22 any of that stuff.
01:23 So it's very tough for him to walk in that situation and be anything positive.
01:28 It looked really bad, Ben, you're not wrong.
01:31 It's a huge if, and this is why we call it gambling, cuz-

01:35 if some semblance of him shows back up in 2020, I think the Browns could be a very
01:38 competitive team and surprise a lot of people.
01:40 I just don't know if I'm ever gonna see that.
