00:23 government, ministers, heads of states, governors.
00:47 Dear Mayor of the territory of the land, mayors and members and representatives of the region
01:04 in Brazil, staff of the friends and ladies and gentlemen.
01:15 It's an honor and a privilege to talk in this Memorial Day for our territory and the
01:27 region, to be able to speak in this summit that hopes for the preservation and the well-being
01:43 of the rainforest, in order to solve the main problems and frustration this region is facing
01:52 right now.
01:57 We're gathered here today by the initiative of the President Luiz Lula da Silva to address
02:05 environmental, economical problems.
02:12 We're gathered here today to reaffirm our conviction of saving and preserving the Amazon.
02:28 The Amazon represents language, culture, and nature.
02:38 And mostly, the most important thing is that it represents the people.
02:47 We embrace the Brazilian president and all the head of ministers that are gathered here
02:59 today.
03:03 This embracement represents not only the love that we share between the whole nation, it
03:10 represents as well the need that we have in solving the main problems of this region and
03:19 to preserve the patrimony of this region.
03:30 With the intention of preserving the region as a common territory, seeing it as a house
03:36 in which we all live in, a house in which all the ones present here share the same thoughts,
03:50 the same convictions, with the main goal of preserving, based on the values of men and
04:11 women in the region, defending the main reasons why we are defending these values.
04:30 We don't need to transform in order to produce.
04:41 We need to analyze past events in order to be able to solve the current problems and
04:49 be able to develop our current situation.
05:11 We need to be able to solve the current problems and be able to develop our future.
05:38 President Lula da Silva has scheduled the meeting today in the order in which every
05:57 head of state is going to talk, the main topic each person is going to address, and the time
06:02 each one will be talking.
06:24 We need to avoid exploitation of mainly the working class.
06:30 We need to avoid this through education.
06:42 We need the help of both private sectors and public sectors.
06:55 We need scientists and academics that are able to create a new path in order to solve
07:05 the problems that we're facing right now.
07:11 We need new strategies in order to develop and educate our people.
07:23 In the FARA state, we're setting the conditions for developing our current strategies.
07:34 But most of all, we are reaffirming our Amazonian identity.
07:40 We pretend to resume our dialogue with the rest of the world and also reinforce the dialogue
07:50 between Latin American nations, especially the ones who are participating in this summit.
08:03 We need to set the path for being able to build a more just and equal society, leaving
08:14 behind all the pain and prejudices that we have been suffering through the past years.
