00:00 My only memories are of my vision going red,
00:04 the feeling of being airborne,
00:06 knowing I was then on the floor.
00:09 I think I tried to stand up,
00:10 but I mean, I had no idea how square it is,
00:13 of my injury.
00:14 There was never any acknowledgement
00:21 of what I'd been involved in.
00:23 You know, as a victim of terrorism,
00:28 you've taken a hit on behalf of the state.
00:31 You'd expect the state to be looking after you,
00:33 not putting you on trial and sending letters
00:37 that basically say, "Prove what happened to you."
00:40 There was a lot of forms to fill in,
00:42 but very early on, I got a strong sense
00:47 that the whole system was set up,
00:51 that they just didn't believe you.
00:54 It was set up that you claim
00:57 you were involved in this,
00:58 and you claim you have these injuries.
01:01 Prove it.
01:02 A lot of countries have better systems,
01:05 better support systems for victims of terrorism.
01:08 Why isn't this country doing the same?
01:10 It wasn't an attack on me.
01:12 It was an attack on us, and where's the help?
01:17 I don't want anyone to have the awful experience
01:20 of being involved in a terrorist attack,
01:23 to have the trauma, the unnecessary trauma,
01:27 that comes after it,
01:28 of trying to find your place in the world again,
01:31 and just to try and get help.
01:33 All the countries can do it.
01:35 You know, it's embarrassing that we can't.
