00:02 - Talk to me about the expectations now of the World Cup.
00:05 Now that Team USA is out for the US market.
00:08 - Well, my friend, so did FIFA,
00:10 because remember the group winner on that fateful night
00:14 where they got knocked out at five in the morning
00:17 was supposed to be the previous evening prime time.
00:20 They were, it just wasn't the US.
00:22 And so the ratings were set up for a bonanza.
00:26 The US team didn't read the memo.
00:28 That being said, the endorsements are there, questionable.
00:33 All of the things that happen in the normal four year valley
00:37 between one Olympics or World Cup and the other
00:39 is now all in play.
00:40 In addition to the fact the dynasty is over,
00:43 most probably because the world has caught up,
00:46 little bit of complacency sprinkled in as well.
00:49 But now the most important issue I think
00:51 is the Olympics in Paris.
00:53 Normally we bypass the women's soccer gold medal
00:58 'cause it's not that important.
00:59 This next time, I think it's probably more important
01:02 than ever as a bridge to the next World Cup in the US
01:05 on the women's side four years from now.
01:07 - Rick, are you shocked at the lack of interest in it?
01:15 This go around feels like there wasn't a whole lot
01:19 to be excited about here in this World Cup.
01:22 - Well, let me ask you, were there games last night?
01:24 Do we know?
01:25 When I say last night, early this morning, who won?
01:28 I mean, right?
01:29 I mean, I'm tired of pushing the reset button
01:32 at five in the morning and then getting up
01:33 and trying to shield the results.
01:36 And then, knowing whether with all due respect,
01:40 Nigeria or England or, I was in Norway.
01:43 I did that segment from the Norwegian practice facility
01:48 before the World Cup.
01:49 Yeah, exciting.
01:50 Norway gets knocked out in the round of 16.
01:52 And while I'm taping it,
01:53 they lose one nothing to lowly New Zealand.
01:56 So, don't ask me to give you any tout advice
02:00 on betting on women's soccer anymore, never.
