00:00 Will, just looking at the remainder of the transfer window for Liverpool, what are their remaining plans until deadline day?
00:08 Well, as we speak, it's going to depend on the field. I'm going to make no bones about it.
00:14 I don't want to say desperate, but it's a unique position that they're in because so often Liverpool have, you know,
00:22 under the age of clock gone and got the transfer business so shrewdly, really, and they've got deals through the line,
00:27 you know, unexpected deals sometimes. You know, you think it's a boss lay this summer, no one really seen that one coming.
00:33 But now, you know, as we speak, three days before the season kicks off at Chelsea and they haven't replaced Fabinho and Jordan Henson,
00:41 which, you know, a lot of people are looking at that thinking, why have Liverpool allowed these two players to leave?
00:48 Why have they allowed both of them to go? I know the money was, you know, right for Liverpool.
00:53 It wasn't, no one's disputing it. They were bad deals for Liverpool. But the timing doesn't make sense.
00:58 Why haven't they said, right, you can go as soon as we get a replacement in.
01:01 And now Liverpool have shown their hands because it's clubs that know they've got this money first and foremost,
01:08 and they know they're desperate for a defensive midfielder.
01:10 So you can understand why Southampton keep rebuffing Liverpool's offers for Labier.
01:16 Liverpool have turned their attention to Moses Casaiso now.
01:21 You know, a lot of people be saying, why didn't they just do that in the first place rather than beating around the bush with Labier?
01:26 And it didn't look on. There's doubts around Labier making an immediate impact anyway, given his age.
01:32 So, yeah, as we speak, they need to get a defensive midfielder in.
01:37 Stefan Berset is a very good player, but he can't be relied on all season and he's not even fit yet.
01:43 So defensive midfielders definitely is the priority.
01:47 There's obviously another player called Alan Shaling from Flumins in Brazil.
01:51 But again, is he going to be able to adapt as quickly as he's hoped?
01:55 Are the Brazilians going to sell him because they're still in the Copa Libertadores,
02:01 which, you know, they're into the quarterfinals. And why would they want to sell him now?
02:05 Because, you know, they're so close to getting to the final.
02:09 And I think they're winning the Brazilian League as well.
02:11 So midseason for them, they're not going to want to sell him.
02:14 They will get one in Liverpool, don't get me wrong. They'll get a defensive midfielder in,
02:18 whether that is, you know, the Baudaz of Southampton and pay the money for Labier
02:23 or spend the money on Casedo or another one that we haven't heard of.
02:28 And then after, you are looking at the defence, to be honest with you.
02:31 Do you need another centre-half in? I think Joe Massa performing pre-season,
02:36 or be it pre-season, but it hasn't been superb.
02:40 I'll be brutally honest, I haven't been overly impressed with Canarta.
02:44 He's been exposed a couple of times, that long ball over the top,
02:47 that Trent Alexander-Arnold's move into midfield.
02:50 That's a work in progress, so you've got to cut him a little bit of slack there.
02:54 So, yeah, another centre-half, definitely, I think that Pearl could be looking at.
03:01 And then you're looking at outgoings then.
03:03 Nath Phillips, obviously, talks about maybe he might be on the move.
03:07 You'd think he'd want to be. And there's more speculation over Thiago Alcantara now.
03:12 Are the Poole willing to let him go now? Certainly not anytime soon.
03:16 Maybe towards the end of the winter, if they've got a couple of midfielders in.
03:19 But they can't have this massive seismic change, the Poole,
03:22 if they want to be challenging for the title and silverware next season
03:25 in the middle of the park, no chance at all.
03:28 That would be six, seven, eight midfielders, if you include Alfa Melo and Fabio Carvalho,
03:36 who wouldn't be here from last season.
03:39 So, yeah, big change, very interesting for the Poole's transfer window,
03:43 because we enter the season and usually the business is done and it's far from it.
03:47 - Probably.
