00:22Personally for me I'm aware of the impacts that fashion has on the environment so I try my best to shop sustainable and secondhand.
00:29I think it's also really nice to support small businesses so for sure that.
00:32Yeah definitely same sustainability reasons also just finding pieces that might not be everywhere else.
00:39So sustainability and individuality are two reasons young shoppers are increasingly looking towards vintage over high street fashions.
00:45But what impact can schemes like secondhand September really have for businesses?
00:50I think it would be beneficial. The vintage kind of shops would certainly help the smaller businesses because the likes of ourselves do get a lot of clothing coming in.
01:06But it's like the vintage clothing lasts a lot longer than the high street stuff I think.
01:11The higher quality of vintage items seems to be an important factor in the ethos of second chance clothing stores.
01:16We find that the older clothes they were made to a much higher standard.
01:22So if you care about the quality of your clothes you're more likely to buy used clothing I believe.
01:29As well as the quality of items the handpicked nature of stock is something that high street brands can't offer.
01:35We've got suppliers where they've got like LA, Texas, New York. They've got all the American stuff shipped to them.
01:45We then go to those warehouses and we handpick everything from them.
01:53As Jordan advises that individuality that can only be found in places where stock is handpicked is something that fashion conscious shoppers are increasingly looking for.
02:00Well for me it's more just about like buying things I know I'll keep wearing. So I try not to buy into trends.
02:05Trying to buy my own personal style which I think everyone's capable of doing.
02:09I think it's more about finding things you like and not buying into trends.
02:12Yeah like micro trends and stuff. Yeah agreed. And buying pieces that will actually last.
02:17As Ruby and Cade have highlighted they shop vintage to express their individuality in a way that's sustainable for the planet.
02:23But why should the average shopper consider going vintage?
02:27If you've never bought second hand before just give it a go. You'd be surprised at what you might find.
02:32We have everything from high end designer, barely worn clothes to something from Edwardian or 20s or 30s era for enthusiasts.
02:42There's something for everyone really. You just have to get out there and look.
02:45So there we go. Vintage has options for all looks and eras.
02:49It seems like finding your look in a second hand shop can get quite addictive.
02:53The more unique things you find the more people are like oh my god where did you get that?
02:56And you can be like oh it's vintage. And it's pretty cool to say something like that I think.
