Devon Conway smashed his third straight half century and Moeen Ali picked up 3-13 as Chennai Super Kings registered an emphatic 91-run victory against Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League on Sunday. Conway’s blistering 87 off 49 balls gave Chennai an impressive total of 208-6 with his opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad making 41. Both openers took charge against spinners and fast bowlers as they combined in a blazing 110-run stand in 11 overs and laid a solid foundation for a big total. (Video and images courtesy IPL)

00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:03 You-- I heard you say at the presentation
00:21 that it's become a habit, a routine,
00:24 to talk to Mike Hussie before he goes to bat.
00:28 Do you get the feeling--
00:31 I just went over to your office--
00:32 that it's almost as if Chennai have a new Mike Hussie
00:35 at the top of the order?
00:37 Yeah, I think I've heard that a few times now,
00:40 which is quite good.
00:41 I mean, to get compared to one of the greats, Mike Hussie,
00:44 is pretty special to be possibly in that bracket.
00:47 But yeah, I think he's got so much knowledge and so much
00:50 experience, not only in the IPL, but throughout the world.
00:54 It's just very important for me as a player
00:56 to continue talking to him and learning from him
00:58 and just getting some guidelines when I need it.
01:00 Hi, Devin.
01:01 Congratulations for Team Victory and your performance.
01:04 I want to ask you that although Chennai has not
01:07 been able to perform that well this season,
01:10 still do you think that the team has got some good players who
01:13 will represent the team better in the future, including you
01:16 as well?
01:17 Certainly.
01:17 I think we've got a very strong team, very strong squad.
01:21 You know, the results perhaps haven't quite
01:23 gone our way this year.
01:25 We're not quite out of the competition, though.
01:28 But we have some seriously classy players
01:30 in the setup with good experience
01:32 and really good young guys coming through.
01:34 So there's no doubt that we'll come back stronger next year
01:38 and play some really good cricket.
01:39 Devon, tell us more about your batting
01:41 and what exactly do you do ahead of the match for your preparation?
01:45 Yeah, for me, the key is trying to be very simple,
01:48 authentic to myself as a player.
01:51 You know, my blueprint's quite simple in terms of in the first
01:54 six, try and play strong cricket shots,
01:56 analyze the situation, the surface, the conditions,
01:59 and just keep up the communications with Ritu
02:02 at the other end.
02:04 He's a class player.
02:05 He's really calm at the crease.
02:06 So him and I have good chats out in the middle,
02:09 and we complement each other quite nicely in the middle.
02:12 Hi, Devon.
02:12 Well played.
02:13 [INAUDIBLE]
02:15 Basically, you started in the first match
02:17 in the beginning of the tournament,
02:18 and then you did not play a few matches.
02:20 Of course, you had a marriage in between,
02:22 and now you have started.
02:23 So what was actually the reason for that,
02:26 or were you building up your team at that stage?
02:30 Yeah, I think the reason for it, I
02:33 think, is it was due to the combination of the team.
02:37 You know, we needed to find a good balance.
02:39 You know, we were a couple of bowler shorts.
02:41 You know, Deepak Jha was injured.
02:44 Adam Milne was injured as well.
02:46 So for us, it was important to try and fulfill those gaps
02:49 as best as possible.
02:50 And that meant we needed to try and carry an extra bowler
02:53 as the overseas option.
02:55 So it was quite understandable.
02:58 You know, the message was clear from Stephen Fleming
03:00 that I needed to make sure I was ready for any opportunity that
03:03 may present itself down in the future.
03:04 And I think with my wedding as well,
03:07 sort of made it the fact that I needed
03:09 to be away for a handful of games as well.
03:11 So it was still good just to support
03:13 the guys from the sidelines.
03:14 And I was very fortunate enough to go back to South Africa
03:17 and get married as well.
