Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, April 25. This was the first time Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk in the IPL. Batting first, Chennai Super Kings were bowled out for 154 in 19.5 overs. Dewald Brevis, who was drafted by CSK as Gurjapneet Singh's replacement, made his debut for the five-time champions and was the best batter for his side, hitting 42 runs off 25 balls, which included one four and four sixes. Young Ayush Mhatre (30), Ravindra Jadeja (21) and Deepak Hooda (22) also made contributions. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Harshal Patel was the best bowler as he picked up four wickets while conceding 28 runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins (2/21), Jaydev Unadkat (2/21), Mohammad Shami (1/28) and Kamindu Mendis (1/26) were among the other wicket-takers. In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the target in 18.4 overs. Ishan Kishan was SRH's top scorer, hitting 44 runs off 34 balls. An unbeaten 49-run stand between Kamindu Mendis (32*) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (19*) helped Sunrisers Hyderabad win by five wickets. For Chennai Super Kings, Noor Ahmad was the best bowler with two wickets.
