From torrential rain and subsequent flooding in Norway and Croatia, to scorching temperatures in Spain and Portugal, we take a look at this week's weather across Europe.
Transcript
00:00 In Norway, some 4,000 people have been evacuated this week from areas hit by storm Hans, which
00:07 caused major floods and damage. Helicopters were called to rescue inhabitants in remote
00:13 areas. Days of heavy rain caused rivers to breach their banks and the dam to partially
00:19 burst.
00:20 I have just received a message that we must evacuate immediately. It concerns all houses,
00:27 I think, which are close to the river Elva. We are on a small hill, so they are afraid
00:31 now that there will be an earthquake.
00:35 In Croatia, the river Drava reached record high levels of 704 centimetres. Recent torrential
00:42 rain had prompted authorities to declare a state of emergency in parts of the country.
00:48 Meanwhile Spain is suffering through its third major heatwave of the summer. Temperatures
00:53 climbed to a scorching 46 degrees Celsius in the eastern city of Valencia. Spain's meteorological
00:59 agency this week warned the average temperature across the country could hit a seven decade
01:04 record.
