Breaking Down Maryland's Sports Betting Handle In July

00:06 I know that there's been some jockeying between FanDuel and DraftKings there.
00:10 What is the latest as far as DraftKings market share and how did their handle look this summer?
00:16 Yeah, so again, like we've been talking about for the last couple of weeks, I think, you
00:21 know, I was working on this piece yesterday as I was going through their numbers and it
00:27 just kind of struck me.
00:29 You know, it's like the for all the Jimbros out there, it's the summer of gains for DraftKings.
00:35 You know, especially in Maryland, they've increased their market share of handle for
00:40 five consecutive months now.
00:41 I think back in March, they were at 31% of handle and now in July, they were just shy
00:50 of 39%.
00:53 Just every month slowly ticking away, ticking away an extra percentage point here, an extra
01:00 two percentage points here and there, you know, as they've kind of built this increasing
01:06 share of handle.
01:09 Now while they're continuing to make those gains, it's important to mention that FanDuel
01:16 has never relinquished that top spot in overall handle in Maryland.
01:22 They're still number one, but it does appear that DraftKings is closing that gap a little
01:30 bit.
01:31 You know, I think the big news of the week that my colleagues have discussed with you,
01:36 Craig, during the week is the Barstool pen deal with ESPN.
01:43 So I was looking at some Barstool handle figures in Maryland when that report came out yesterday
01:50 and in July, Barstool had less than 2% of the overall handle in Maryland.
01:59 And then looking back at last fiscal year, July 22 through June 23, they had an overall
02:10 market share of handle just shy of 3%.
02:15 So not necessarily a major player in that market as FanDuel and DraftKings kind of dominate
02:23 like they do everywhere else or most everywhere else, I should say.
02:27 But you know, worth mentioning here as we are going to see ESPN bet kind of take that
02:34 operation over here in the next couple of months.
