00:00 the type of guy you want to play next to.
00:02 It's the way he commands the team, the offense,
00:04 and it's the way he goes about his business.
00:06 - I am Melissa Ireda here on behalf of Sports Illustrated
00:09 with DeAndre Swift from the Philadelphia Eagles
00:13 on behalf of Pepsi Zero Sugar.
00:16 The Eagles just had their annual practice
00:18 that was open to the public.
00:20 50,000 fans showed up to watch you practice.
00:25 What was that like?
00:26 - It was crazy.
00:27 The atmosphere, the energy that the fans brought.
00:29 It was crazy.
00:30 Gave you a little taste of how the season gonna be.
00:32 Die hard fans.
00:33 - You're bringing your abilities as a runner
00:35 and a pass catcher to an already potent Eagles team
00:39 and offense.
00:41 What should Philly fans expect from you this year?
00:43 - They getting a team guy first, a playmaker,
00:45 somebody that's gonna play his role
00:47 to the best of his ability.
00:49 Just looking to have fun out there, man.
00:50 That's all.
00:51 - Okay.
00:52 So Jalen Hurts.
00:53 You get to see him up close and personal in practice.
00:56 What is he like as a leader of the team and the offense?
01:00 - Exactly what you said, a leader.
01:02 From the moment he wake up, I guess till he go to sleep,
01:04 he the same way.
01:06 Business like all day, every day, 24 hours of the day.
01:09 Type of guy you wanna play next to.
01:11 Just the way he commands the team, the offense,
01:14 and just the way he goes about his business.
01:16 - So is he posed for an MVP run in your mind?
01:19 - You got my vote.
01:21 Yeah, I believe so.
01:25 - Can your Eagles team this season
01:27 be a historically great offense?
01:30 - I believe so.
01:31 With the work that we put in each day,
01:33 it ain't gonna come overnight.
01:34 We gotta work for that, work to be that.
01:36 So I think with the work we put in,
01:38 the mental focus that I see that the guys in the room have
01:41 every single day, I believe so.
01:43 - Speaking of your first preseason game,
01:46 do you have any pregame rituals?
01:47 - I don't really have no crazy pregame ritual.
01:49 I just can't really sit still.
01:50 I'm like always moving around, doing something,
01:53 like a good nervous type of energy,
01:55 listening to music, that type of thing.
01:57 Just getting ready to go.
01:58 - Do you have any song?
01:59 Like any particular song you have to hear before a game?
02:03 - Not one, no.
02:04 Not one particular song, no, I don't.
02:06 - Any artists?
02:08 - I got a few artists that I listen to, yeah, for sure.
02:11 Future, Meek Mill, and Lil Baby.
02:14 They gotta be in the game day rotation.
02:16 - So, now I've got to ask you this question
02:19 I've been dying to ask.
02:20 Who is the more interesting coach you've played for?
02:23 Is it Campbell?
02:24 It's been making headlines.
02:26 You wanted a real lion on your sidelines this season.
02:30 Or is it your current coach, Nick Cerrani?
02:33 Or is it your college coach, Kirby Smart?
02:35 - They all kind of unique in their own little way.
02:38 But they all bring great energy to the football team.
02:42 All type of coaches wanna play for it,
02:43 wanna demand the best out of their players.
02:45 But I'm excited to play with Coach Cerrani.
02:47 - All right, so let's say the Eagles make it
02:49 to the Super Bowl this year.
02:50 Who do you wanna see at the halftime performance?
02:53 Is it Taylor Swift?
02:54 - Yeah, I would love to see Taylor Swift.
02:56 Other than Taylor Swift, I wanna see Alicia Keys.
03:00 I wanna see Alicia Keys. - Oh, okay.
03:01 I love that.
03:02 All right.
03:04 You're gonna be in "Up" for a new contract after this season.
03:07 With all the talk about running back value,
03:10 is that something that's in the back of your mind?
03:13 - Not really right now, no.
03:14 I'm just focused on the next practice,
03:16 really getting better each single day.
03:18 That's really what's on my mind right now.
03:19 I'm just focused on that.
03:21 - On behalf of Pepsi Zero Sugar,
03:23 to encourage fans to get their hands
03:25 on the new number zero jersey
03:28 as part of Pepsi Zero Sugar
03:30 becoming the official zero of the NFL.
03:33 How's that feel?
03:34 - Amazing.
03:35 Yeah, it's amazing to be able to partnership
03:36 with Pepsi Zero Sugar.
03:37 Like you said, Pepsi is the official zero of the NFL.
03:40 And first year they're allowing players
03:42 to wear number zero, it's a great feeling.
03:44 - All right, well, on behalf of Sports Illustrated,
03:46 I wanted to thank you for taking the time out
03:48 to do this interview.
03:49 - Thank you, thank you for having me.
03:51 (upbeat music)
