00:00 Even though it's prohibited, pedestrians are crossing the road.
00:03 The MMDA's CCTVs captured the patenting of the vehicles.
00:09 We have first news from Jamie Santos.
00:11 This is a CCTV of the MMDA in Gawing Ed in Guadalupe.
00:19 This pedestrian is still crossing the road even though there's no proper crossing.
00:25 He stopped in the middle of the road, waiting for the right time so he won't get hit.
00:30 Then he crossed the concrete barriers to go to Ed's carousel.
00:34 This is another pedestrian on the sidewalk.
00:37 Ed is walking fast to cross the road to go to the carousel.
00:41 The MMDA posted the video on their Facebook page
00:44 to remind the public not to patent the vehicles.
00:49 The MMDA will have a day to do so.
00:52 But even at night, there are still people crossing the road to the sidewalk
00:57 like this one near the intersection of Edsa and Quezon Avenue.
01:02 On our way, we saw a footbridge near the Quezon Avenue-Edsa Carousel Station.
01:08 We also met some commuters crossing the road to Edsa.
01:12 We asked some of them why they don't want to cross the footbridge.
01:17 It's hard to cross the road up there. This is the fastest way.
01:23 But it's a bit dangerous.
01:25 This is the fastest way. At least we can reach there.
01:28 Sometimes, we forget the pedestrian.
01:30 It's faster to cross the road below.
01:33 Those who are caught jaywalking, aside from the one who is guilty,
01:36 will be punished.
01:38 Each city has its own ordinance regarding jaywalking or crossing the wrong road.
01:43 In Quezon City, for example,
01:45 in the first offense, there is a fine of P500 or three hours community service.
01:52 In the second offense, it's P1,000.
01:55 In the third offense, it's P1,500 or three hours community service.
02:00 According to the MMDA, this will often happen in Edsa
02:04 when their enforcers' duty is over at night.
02:07 Our enforcers' duty is only up to 10 p.m.
02:11 When our enforcers see that during their duty,
02:17 they are caught and arrested.
02:21 Even so, they continue to monitor this using CCTV cameras.
02:26 The MMDA and Department of Transportation continues to assist
02:30 in Edsa carousel for the safety of commuters.
02:35 We have ongoing manlifes that are being conducted.
02:41 I think six are ongoing.
02:43 It was planned by the DOTR.
02:47 This is the first news.
