00:00 Hi everyone, my name is Claudia Musonda and we are here at the Victoria Falls.
00:07 I'm going to take you through my city Livingston town.
00:11 Meet Claudia Musonda, the 25-year-old arrived in Livingston five years ago.
00:16 She wanted to become the first female safari guide from her village.
00:20 And Livingston is not just Zambia's former capital, but also its tourism hub.
00:26 Named after Scottish explorer and missionary Dr. David Livingston,
00:30 the first European to see and document the impressive Victoria Falls in 1855,
00:36 arguably Zambia's most famous site.
00:39 Claudia takes us to the edge of the Zambezi River.
00:43 This is called the Boiling Pot, an otherworldly spot for young lovebirds to get engaged.
00:49 Livingston happens to be the tourist capital in Zambia
00:54 and it is famous for the Victoria Falls.
00:57 We have a lot of millions and thousands of people visiting the falls every year.
01:03 And it's really amazing to see because it's one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
01:10 On average, one million litres of water cascade down Victoria Falls every single second.
01:18 The sheer spectacle evokes a sense of awe and wonder.
01:22 Locally, though, they are known as Mosi-ua-Tunya, or the smoke that thunders.
01:29 I regard that place to be an altar for me.
01:32 And I believe when I pray, when I'm here, God really answers my prayers.
01:38 The next stop is Livingston's very own national park, just 10 minutes drive from the city centre.
01:45 We meet some of Claudia's most special friends, the highly endangered white or square-lipped rhinoceros.
01:53 Once, thousands of rhinos wandered the plains of the Zambezi River, but poaching has decimated their numbers.
02:00 Today, the Livingston rhinos are so precious that they are guarded 24/7.
02:06 This is the only place in the country, Livingston, where you get to see the rhino.
02:12 So during COVID, we had two newborn babies, and now we've got females, two of them, which I'm expecting.
02:20 The numbers are multiplying. It's really, really good news to know.
02:26 From protecting Africa's most endangered animals to hosting a humming Southern African trade hub
02:33 and being the gateway to one of the world's most famous sites, Livingston has it all.
