00:00 familiarity and attracted to, but how big was that for you to have, you know, to come here and kind of be adjusted?
00:07 Yeah, that was huge. You know, Coach Brown put me through really hard in my recruitment to Purdue.
00:12 You know, I was committed to those guys for two years. I had a great relationship, so when I got back in the
00:18 portal, you know, having that relationship and that familiarity with those guys was huge in my decision to come here.
00:24 Was it unique for you because you knew you were, there's a situation where there are several talented
00:29 quarterbacks, it wasn't like a get-and-starting job or anything like that. What was that, you know, playing into the decision?
00:35 Yeah, you know, I think, you know, it was just a situation of familiarity, you know, knowing how these guys work
00:41 and how they've developed guys. You know, I've been very fortunate to learn from a six-year guy that had been in the
00:48 offense a lot last year, you know, coming here and having Jack, you know, being in the mid-22. I feel like we've got a
00:54 great group of guys and a lot of talent there, so, you know, it definitely pushes each and every one of us.
00:58 What's the number one thing that Coach Brown demands of his quarterbacks?
01:02 You know, I think you've got to have toughness. You know, you've got to be smart. I think his big three things are, you know,
01:08 smart, tough, and accurate. I think, you know, those are, when you look at everybody in the NFL, those traits are very
01:15 common. So, I think, you know, those are the three big traits that he demands of us.
01:21 What have you seen out of the receivers and the receiving group? And obviously, they're all new to you.
01:27 Yeah.
01:28 What have you seen out of those guys so far?
01:30 There's a lot of talent that we're, you know, last year, you know, we kind of had to force the ball to a certain guy
01:36 last year at Purdue, and, you know, this year, you know, we can drop back and, you know, kind of take what the defense gives us
01:41 because we've got so many guys that can make plays for us and a lot of talent that we're bringing.
01:46 How do you feel like you've progressed from day one when you got here to now? How have you progressed?
01:52 Yeah, I think, you know, just continuing to learn the playbook. You know, it's pretty thick. A lot goes into it.
01:57 You know, I think that's just the mental part of, you know, being able to play at a fast level or a high level.
02:03 I'm sure that's been the biggest thing I've learned.
02:05 His passing game has always been effective at Western and at Purdue. Is it complexity? Is it just drilling it and
02:12 knowing it so well? What is one of the things that makes it work?
02:15 You know, I think we have, you know, we have a play for anything the defense throws at us.
02:19 We got playmakers around us, so I think those two things together really go well in helping us be efficient
02:25 and have a great passing offense.
02:28 You talked about Jack Brock, who's an older guy who's been around here for a couple years.
02:31 Did you know anything about him at all before, and what have you kind of seen from him throughout the competition?
02:36 I didn't know Brock at first, but, you know, the more I've gotten to know Brock, he's a down-to-earth, super genuine guy.
02:42 He's played a lot of football, so he's been great to kind of pick his brain to see how he thinks about things.
02:48 Yeah, so having those two guys around, guys that have played a lot of football, is huge for me.
02:53 You've had, obviously, a relationship now with Brian for quite a while. What's it like to learn from him, to work under him?
02:58 Yeah, it's super fun. You know, Brian's played at a high level. You know, getting in the meeting room with him every day
03:05 and, you know, being able to learn from him. Guys that have played at the high level, that's what you want.
03:08 That's who you want to be able to learn from. I think that's huge, you know, by developing.
