00:02 - I really enjoy the racing.
00:03 It's just so fun meeting these new kids.
00:06 - You go to these local short tracks all across the country
00:12 and this is where the next racers are going to come from.
00:16 Now I've got Brexton, who's my kid
00:20 that we're gonna try to get up through there.
00:23 - I'm basically like setting my own path
00:25 to beat how many wins he has in cup.
00:27 - Okay.
00:28 (upbeat music)
00:31 - Everybody ready to go?
00:37 - Yep.
00:37 - Is everybody ready to have fun?
00:42 - Brexton, how do you feel about wake today?
00:46 - I feel really good about it.
00:48 - So Brexton, you get double features tonight.
00:52 - Yay.
00:53 - You get to run the first race
00:54 and the second to last race.
00:56 - We're gonna get home at like two in the morning.
00:57 - Yep.
00:59 - I love how you didn't mention that
01:02 until we're halfway there.
01:03 (laughing)
01:04 - It happens.
01:05 - I know.
01:06 - We're here at Wake County to race the Bandoleros.
01:16 I really like to race the Bandos
01:19 because my first time in a Bando, I won it.
01:22 - What's the other reason you like a Bandolero?
01:24 - Because it goes 85.
01:26 (laughing)
01:28 - Try to work on opening your entry to one,
01:35 widen it out a little bit.
01:37 (upbeat music)
01:41 - Is your steering wheel good?
01:45 Is it where you want it?
01:46 - Yeah.
01:47 - I've done this world before.
01:50 I started when I was 13 racing legends cars,
01:52 Bandoleros, late models all across the country and stuff.
01:55 And so I have been there, I've done that.
01:57 My dad taught me.
01:58 And so I feel like there's a lot of great lessons
02:00 that I have that are really good.
02:01 You can get to NASCAR in how many different ways.
02:06 This is kind of the youngest form of pavement racing
02:08 that you can get involved in.
02:10 It's just gonna be about trying to run more throttle,
02:12 whether you lift later or get back to the gas sooner.
02:15 - Do you wanna be looser?
02:18 Like, is it too tight?
02:19 - Yeah, just a little bit looser, like not a lot
02:24 'cause I don't want it to like step out.
02:26 - It's crazy for being eight because Kyle and I
02:30 treat him more so like an adult
02:32 because he does these things.
02:34 But then we have to stop ourselves,
02:35 'cause no offense, but like tying shoes,
02:37 we still struggle with that.
02:39 - Get ready 'cause it is team candy drop here at the,
02:43 here comes Brexton Bush.
02:44 Hurry up, Brexton.
02:45 Candy's flowing, here it comes this way.
02:48 You guys need to go get strapped in.
02:49 Brexton and Rue, you guys go get strapped in.
02:51 We're ready to go racing.
02:52 Let's go, guys.
02:54 (dramatic music)
02:57 - If you finish in the top three, you can have-
03:02 - Top five.
03:03 - Top three.
03:04 - Top five.
03:05 - Hey, you already had candy.
03:06 Top three, you can get 'em.
03:08 - Top five.
03:09 - All right, man, let's just go do this, okay?
03:15 Whatever we got, we got.
03:20 - A little surprised to see Brexton deep in the field.
03:23 - Brexton, can you hear me?
03:25 - I can hear you.
03:26 - One to go.
03:29 Wake County, are you ready?
03:31 - It is very nerve wracking as the mother.
03:37 I always thought being like driver's wife was nerve wracking.
03:39 Every single race he's in feels like a Daytona
03:42 or a Talladega, because the thing is,
03:44 at least at this age, they have a little bit of common sense.
03:48 - No, we don't.
03:49 - Sometimes you get this age and it's like,
03:52 lap one, let's go five wide, not lift, and see what happens.
03:57 - Get it up, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
04:00 - Flag is out, it's a good start.
04:02 Everybody races back down into turn number one.
04:05 - There's a lot of different circumstances that I'm in,
04:10 a lot of different hats that I wear.
04:12 When I'm a driver, obviously I'm a driver,
04:14 but honestly, a lot of the things that I've been doing
04:16 with him and helping him with driver coaching,
04:18 I've now noticed myself when I'm racing,
04:21 asking myself the same questions I ask him.
04:24 - I do have to tell you stuff for dirt.
04:26 - Yeah, I listen to your dirt knowledge,
04:29 'cause I've not been a very good dirt racer,
04:31 so you're helping me out getting better there.
04:33 - Fan, go low, stay low, stay low.
04:36 All right, check your flag.
04:39 Check your flag.
04:40 - Rounding out the top five's gonna be Brexton Bush.
04:46 - First race, I did not do.
04:49 I finished fifth, but in the second main,
04:54 there was an invert for the top five,
04:57 so whoever finished last in the top five
04:59 got to start first.
05:00 - Coming to the green, I want you to put your left side
05:07 on that first hash mark.
05:09 Put your left side on that first hash mark,
05:11 stay right there, yep.
05:12 - And we're underway, final race of the night
05:14 for the boys and girls' future NASCAR.
05:17 - Go, gas it, come on, hard.
05:19 Go, go, go, go, go, go.
05:20 Fun out under you, caution all the way out.
05:23 Stay low a little bit, stay low, stay low, stay low,
05:24 stay low, great corner, great lap.
05:26 Let's go, two to go, two to go.
05:29 Go baby, go baby, go baby, go.
05:30 There it is, homie.
05:32 Check your flag, way to go, buddy.
05:33 - And finally, Brexton Bush wins
05:36 here at Wake County Speedway.
05:38 I know Samantha and Kyle, mommy and daddy,
05:41 have gotta be happy.
05:42 - Good job, homie, nice work.
05:44 - Thank you to all the fans that came out tonight.
05:47 - Congratulations to Brexton Bush, winning a race here.
05:50 - Cool trophy.
05:51 - It's exciting, you know, not all nights end
05:54 in victory lane and sometimes they end in tears,
05:58 but you know, he did really good tonight
06:00 and I appreciate you for missing that spin
06:02 'cause I was like, "Ee."
06:04 When the white car turned and you like went--
06:07 - Oh, there were 22 on your inside.
06:08 There was some close calls, that was good.
06:10 - So you did a nice job.
06:11 - Heads up, Drex. - Very good.
06:13 (upbeat music)
