Angular Maserati MCXtrema Crawler Toy Revealed with 730 HP.
Only 62 of the cars will be produced and none of them will be put on the road.

The hits of Monterey Car Week keep coming, with the latest Maserati MCXtrema being the track-only supercar. Based on the mighty MC20, the MCXtrema boasts a much more angular styling, an aggressive aerodynamic package and 730 horsepower from the Nettuno twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6.

The Maserati racer, which will make its debut at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, will be limited to 62 units and will not be legal to go out as a track toy. But for pirates and collectors, the MCXtrema will be the sequel to the MC12 Corsa from the mid-2000s.

Inside the MCXtrema, everything unnecessary has been removed to save weight and help the rider focus on the task at hand. This means that the traditional control panel has disappeared and only a purpose-built structural beam remains to house the "command center". The steering wheel features a 5.0-inch screen, buttons and rotary selectors, carbon and aluminum construction, and an angular grip design for both aesthetics and ergonomics.

The MCXtrema will be customizable for each customer, including the position of the steering wheel, pedal box and controls, and safety is a key consideration given the six-point racing seat belt and full inner cage. The command center and steering wheel controls will give the driver access to steering and traction control calibration, lap times, pit speed limiter and communication systems. For those who want to share their fun times, the passenger seat will be optional in the MCXtrema, but the fixed single seat arrangement is standard.

Beneath the carbon fiber monocoque and body structure is a version of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 found in the MC20. MCX-specific turbochargers give the racer 110 extra hp compared to the production car, while torque remains at 538 pound-feet, giving a total of 730 hp at 7,500 rpm. A six-speed sequential transmission with garage clutch sends power to the rear wheels via a mechanical limited-slip differential.

Keeping all that power under control is the four-wheel double wishbone suspension with geometry unique to the MCXtrema.

Pricing of the MCXtrema hasn't been made public, but Maserati would confirm that it's been priced in excess of seven figures for all 62 units. Production of the MCXtrema will begin in the second half of 2024 and deliveries will be made that fall.
