Cal kicker talks about his father and his field-goal range
Transcript
00:00 - How were you introduced to kicking?
00:03 Did your dad introduce you to it or on your own?
00:05 - It was just kind of around me my whole life
00:07 since just my dad kicking and then my brothers both kicked
00:10 and then my junior year of high school,
00:12 I was like, okay, I'll try this now that my brother's gone
00:15 and I'll take over.
00:17 And then I just started kicking
00:18 and kind of fell in love with it.
00:20 - I'm assuming you never saw your dad kick, did you?
00:24 - I did not.
00:25 That was before my time.
00:26 - Yeah, did you see films a little bit or anything?
00:28 - Yeah, I've seen a couple of videos,
00:30 some funny, some just good kicking, but it's cool.
00:34 - Does he coach you at all?
00:36 - Yeah, yeah, he does.
00:37 But he more on like the mental aspect
00:40 of just like how to go through it,
00:42 go through your process and just make it repetitive.
00:47 - Like what are the instructions as far as that?
00:49 - It's kind of just like, first of all,
00:52 find like your swing that you can repeat every time
00:54 and then just find your rhythm
00:56 and like just stay in it.
00:58 It's just, and every kick's the same kick,
01:00 whether it's a PAP or a 60 yard or just same kick
01:03 and have one swing.
01:04 And it's like golfing with one club, so.
01:06 - How far do you think you can go out and make a field goal?
01:10 - Around 65, yeah.
01:15 It's about my range, yeah.
01:17 - Obviously you'd have to lower the.
