00:00 While it is unsure if he will even start in week one for the Aggies,
00:04 offensive tackle Chase Basantes has been named to ESPN's preseason freshman
00:09 All-American team. Recruited by O-line coach Steve Adazio, Basantes was
00:14 considered one of the nation's top interior offensive line prospects. Thanks
00:18 to multiple injuries, the New Jersey native has been thrusted into playing
00:22 with the first-team offense during its spring practice and even during the
00:26 annual maroon and white game, playing primarily on the right side of the line.
00:31 When healthy, Father the Endzone are the projected starters on either side of the
00:35 line, but Basantes could push for starting reps by midseason. While Father
00:41 the Endzone had the experience as they both started a predominant amount of
00:45 games last season, it's Basantes' versatility that could help his odds at
00:50 getting a start. Prior to becoming an Aggie, Basantes played a majority of his
00:54 reps at left guard during his four years at Don Bosco Prep. With time running out
01:00 and the season quickly approaching, there is no question that head coach Jimbo
01:05 Fisher will start the best, regardless of projections or experience, leaving the
