00:00 Well, even though children and pets
00:01 may be tempted to play in the flood
00:04 waters, we spoke with Kern County
00:06 Public Health and they say it's
00:07 probably best to avoid those waters
00:09 as much as possible because you never
00:11 know what you could be exposed to.
00:13 So exposure to the contaminated,
00:15 the potentially contaminated floodwater.
00:17 It can cause everything from
00:18 if you have an open wound.
00:20 You know a wound infection can develop.
00:23 You can even get a skin rash,
00:25 gastrointestinal illness.
00:26 If you were to ingest again,
00:28 it's very unknown the kinds of things
00:30 you could be potentially ingesting.
00:32 And even things like tetanus.
00:34 These are all things that you could
00:37 potentially becoming exposed to if
00:39 you come into contact with and or
00:42 even ingest some of these floodwaters.
00:45 Health officials say you accidentally
00:47 or intentionally go into floodwaters.
00:49 Try to wash your hands and or shower
00:52 immediately depending on how much
00:54 of your body was exposed and never
00:57 never open your mouth while in flood water or drink it.
