00:03 which will help in obtaining tourist visas for foreign tourists in the Philippines.
00:08 J.P. Soriano is a witness.
00:10 To attract more tourists,
00:16 a project was created to facilitate the obtaining of tourist visas
00:21 for foreign tourists in the Philippines.
00:24 An online application of tourist visas.
00:28 3, 2, 1, 0!
00:32 Earlier, the Department of Foreign Affairs launched the Philippine e-Visa system.
00:39 The e-Visa system will allow foreign nationals to apply for visitor visas remotely
00:45 through their personal computers, laptops, and mobile devices.
00:50 One of the first contributors to the project,
00:53 Chinese nationals are being sent to the Philippines.
00:57 I'm pleased to share that the Philippine e-Visa system is ready to be soft launched for beta testing,
01:03 which will be led by the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai.
01:07 More Chinese tourists are expected to visit the Philippines.
01:13 Before the pandemic,
01:15 China was the second largest number of tourists visiting the Philippines,
01:20 followed by South Korean nationals.
01:22 Some of their favorite destinations are the island of Hurakan,
01:27 where there is a direct flight from China to Kalibu, Aklan.
01:31 Senator Nancy Binay, the Chair of the Senate Tourism Committee, also showed support.
01:36 But she also hopes that there will be a face-to-face process
01:40 so that undesirable travelers will not be able to enter the country.
01:45 Binay's concern is that foreign and local tourists will be expected to visit the Philippines simultaneously
01:52 because it's only been a few weeks, or even months.
01:55 According to the Bureau of Immigration,
01:57 they are preparing for this,
01:59 such as placing special lanes for back-country and OFWs.
