00:18 Shortly after 10 o'clock this morning, the paramedics were alerted to a shark incident here.
00:24 There was a lot of surfers here at the time who were able to assist this guy to shore and assist with first aid until the paramedics arrived.
00:33 And very shortly after, the patient was taken by ambulance under police escort straight to hospital.
00:42 With shark incidents, things kind of happen quite quickly, so obviously it's only a matter of minutes to give someone first aid.
00:49 The first aid has been bit by a shark, getting them to the paramedics and in the ambulance is a priority, so that all happened quite quickly.
00:58 The surfer's life-saving response was quite quick as well, but within those 10 to 15 minutes, the patient was already on their way to hospital.
01:06 Very good conditions here, so there were quite a lot of surfers here.
01:10 The word is that one of the surfers involved was either a doctor or some highly skilled, trained in medical.
01:20 So, yeah, I guess the guy so far has had the best response he could have had.
01:27 How long it's been since there was been a shark attack at this particular beach?
01:32 I can't remember the year exactly, but at this particular beach, it has been quite a while, maybe close to 10 years.
01:39 But the location is very close to where we are today.
01:42 We'll keep the beach closed for at least 24 hours.
01:45 Obviously, there's a drone, a surfer's life-saving drone, flying, monitoring shark activity.
01:50 So if there are other sharks spotted, we might keep the beaches closed a little bit longer.
01:57 But, yeah, at least 24 hours at this stage.
