00:05 school shopping completed, we're all looking for ways to save time and money in the summer.
00:09 Well, today we are joined by CEO and founder of Clever Girl Finance, who will share some
00:15 tips on how to save during the 2023 back to school season.

00:25 Well, I'm doing pretty good.
00:26 So, you know, finances are everybody's mind and we're getting back to school.
00:30 So let's talk about some of the stressful things that are going for parents already
00:34 as we get back into it.
00:36 Yeah, so it's all about saving money on back to school, right?
00:39 It is expensive.
00:40 However, it is possible to save and get through this seamlessly.
00:44 So I would say start by taking advantage of loyalty programs that suit your lifestyle.
00:49 For instance, if you head on over to Exxon or mobile gas stations, you can leverage your
00:53 Walmart Plus membership to save 20 cents off every gallon of gas that you purchase between
00:58 now and September 15th.
01:00 So I don't know about you, Brad, but during back to school, I am doing a lot of driving
01:04 and Walmart Plus members always save 10 cents off every gallon of fuel that they purchase
01:08 from 12,000 Exxon and mobile stations nationwide.
01:12 And that makes it perfect to squeeze in that last minute road trip for a college move or
01:16 simply heading to Walmart to pick up your school supplies.
01:19 And as I mentioned, you can leverage your Walmart Plus membership to double your savings
01:23 between now and September 15th because you will get 20 cents off every gallon of gas
01:27 that you purchase from Exxon and mobile stations.
01:30 Plus, you'll be getting Synergy gasoline, which is engineered to help your car, to improve
01:35 your car's fuel efficiency and performance by reducing engine deposits, which will save
01:40 you money over time.
01:41 And again, make it perfect to squeeze in that last minute road trip.
01:44 You know, we could have stopped right there.
01:45 You just saved me money on gas, where that's where we see a lot of our expenses going to
01:49 soccer practices, back and forth in school.

01:53 So, okay, we do have our supplies because we are back in school, but how do we of course
01:57 save on our back to school expenses that we start to see coming up?
02:01 Yeah, so for any last minute back to school supplies or just expenses that are part of
02:07 your kids being in school, I would definitely say explore shopping secondhand.
02:11 It is easier than ever today to shop secondhand online and find really great items in great
02:16 conditions.
02:17 So for example, your child may need a $90 graphing calculator.
02:20 Before you shell out that money, just take a few moments to explore your options online
02:24 so you can save some money and even in person locally at thrift stores.
02:29 I would also say take advantage of free delivery and free shipping from Walmart Plus to save
02:34 you time and money.
02:35 So in addition to saving on fuel from Exxon and mobile stations, you can leverage your
02:39 Walmart Plus membership to get free store delivery and free shipping with no order
02:43 minimums.
02:44 So all you have to do is go online, order those back to school items, order your study
02:48 snacks and you can get those things delivered to your doorstep for free.

02:52 Very easy to do.
02:53 Okay, what other things do you have for us to keep in mind as we want to save on our
02:57 expenses?
03:00 Tax free weekends.
03:01 So many states offer tax free weekends or even longer periods of time to their residents
03:06 to help them save on things like household goods, food, diapers and more.
03:10 And so you want to bookmark those tax free dates because this is a great time to save
03:15 on those big ticket back to school items like computers and other electronics and clothing
03:20 as well.
03:21 Oh, I never knew about that.
03:23 That is, that's so amazing.
03:24 Tax free months, they do this?
03:27 Yes, Google search, you'll find it.
03:29 I'm doing it right now.
03:30 Oh my gosh.
03:31 So this is so cool that we got these very quick low expense tips.
