00:00 At this stage we've received a report of a young 8 year old boy who has suffered a needle stick injury
00:06 at a public restroom on Koala Street at Port Macquarie.
00:10 It's a distressing incident and these types of incidents should not happen within our community.
00:14 This is a very rare incident and it's not typical to this area or many other areas as well
00:19 but we do urge people just to be careful when using public restrooms.
00:22 If you do find uncapped syringes there are contacts that can be made.
00:27 There is a New South Wales needle clean up hotline which you can contact
00:31 and they'll make arrangements for the needle to be collected and disposed of.
00:34 A big part of the investigation will be information from the public.
00:38 The incident did occur several days ago so we are appealing to the public for assistance.
