As we enter into a new month, can we expect a new set of weather conditions? With Storm Franklin on the horizon, the Met Office predicts two possible futures for our weather forecast next week.
Transcript
00:00 So let's take a look at the most likely scenario through next week.
00:03 The jet stream becomes amplified, it becomes buckled,
00:06 it whips into a slightly more wriggly shape across the Atlantic
00:09 and allows high pressure to become reinforced across the UK
00:13 after that more changeable start to the week in the north.
00:15 And that high pressure through next week would bring mostly fine conditions
00:19 and reasonable warmth with some spells of sunshine.
00:23 We've also got low pressure over Iberia staying there,
00:26 low pressure towards the north-west of the UK staying there.
00:30 But if Hurricane Franklin takes a slightly different path,
00:36 the jet stream could become even more amplified, even more wriggly.
00:40 And if that happened, if that jet stream was really wriggly,
00:44 then it would allow these very showery conditions across the southern part of Europe
00:49 to push north across the UK,
00:51 so showers and thunderstorms and humid air pushing in from the north.
