The YEP's Peter Smith looks back on Leeds Rhinos' Sam Lisone-inspired 28-12 win at Hull FC which kept their faint play-off hopes alive.
Transcript
00:00 Well, an excellent and, as we said, quite surprising 28 points and 12 wins for Leeds Rhinos here at Hull FC.
00:10 No doubt about the star man, Sam Lissom, the prop who has got better as this season has gone on, as he's adjusted to Super League.
00:18 Came off the bench in the first half, smashed his way over for a couple of tries.
00:22 His first scores four leads and then completed his hatchery to wrap things up in the second with a long-range touchdown.
00:29 Terrific effort from him. This has been a good Leeds performance in tough circumstances.
00:33 Admittedly, Hull are in a similar sort of state to Leeds and they were missing a few players and a bit low on confidence.
00:40 But Leeds, with no recognised experienced half-backs, losing Ash Hanley before the game with two injuries.
00:48 He was one of a long list of players who were missing, but Leeds really dug deep.
00:52 They were clinical at times, they took their chances when they got them and they defended very well, I thought, for the most part.
01:00 One spell in the second half when Hull had cut the gap with a couple of tries and were really threatening a fight back.
01:07 But Leeds survived about four or five sets on their own line and then countered and Lissom's try wrapped it up.
01:13 Other good performances, I thought Cameron Smith was excellent.
01:17 Again, James McDonnell, what a find he has been this year. He had a superb game, particularly in the first half.
01:23 I thought David Fusitua was excellent on the right wing, scored a good try and cleared his lines really well.
01:31 And 18-year-old Jack Sinfield at scrum half will certainly benefit from the experience.
01:38 He's a good player, just needs more game time at this level and he's going to have a big future.
01:43 I was also impressed with Luke Cooley at full-back. Maybe defensively he could have done better with Hull's first try.
01:50 But he scored himself, made some fine takes under high balls and beat the man more often than not, clearing his lines.
01:58 So he's done well, but a really good win for Leeds which just about keeps them in the hunt for the top six.
