00:21 We invite you in to be a part of the program, be a part of the network.
00:25 We appreciate you very much tuning in.
00:27 I wanted to continue our preview series here a little bit of Miami as the Aggies will head
00:32 to Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday to take on the Miami Hurricanes.
00:36 It's a rematch of last season.
00:39 The Aggies sort of, I guess, beat out a 17-9 win over a Miami team that wasn't very good.
00:49 I think they were touted to be better than they were last year, but of course at that
00:53 point in the season in September of last year, the Aggies kind of were too.
00:57 We know what happened to them as the season went on.
01:00 They got the 17-9 win.
01:03 Somehow they managed only 264 total yards against Miami.
01:07 140 of those were passing yards.
01:10 Then starter Max Johnson was able to manage.
01:13 And Devon A. Chain, the guy who carried the ball most of the time for the Aggies and was
01:17 responsible for most of the rushing yards that day, well, he's in Miami.
01:22 That playing for the NFL Dolphins, of course.
01:24 So it's a new year.
01:25 It's a new season.
01:27 And it's really two very different teams heading into the week two matchup between the ACC
01:33 and the SEC.
01:34 The Aggies, of course, have settled in on a quarterback now with true sophomore Connor
01:39 Wigman, who has just played masterfully in the four games that he played last year.
01:46 The one game he started this year, and I cannot stress enough, I've said this, I've been on
01:51 several programs, a couple of ACC shows, a couple of SEC shows, and I cannot tout enough
02:00 the importance of the fact that Connor Wigman has yet to throw an interception in his collegiate
02:05 career.
02:06 Of course, he appeared in four games last year.
02:08 He threw eight touchdowns, zero interceptions.
02:11 In game one of this year, of course, five touchdowns, zero interceptions.
02:15 So he's on a 13-0 touchdown-interception ratio.
02:20 And of course, that's not going to continue.
02:22 I realize that.
02:24 But it's nice to see from an Aggies quarterback, especially considering the prior couple of
02:29 years really between Wigman and Mond, just some quarterbacks look like they didn't have
02:34 a clue.
02:35 And it's nice to see Wigman managing that and not making the mistakes and making the
02:42 plays with his feet.
02:43 But that's probably a subject for a different podcast.
02:47 But yes, Wigman's excelling.
02:51 Far cry from the Max Johnson that showed up last year against Miami.
02:54 Again, the team won.
02:56 They didn't play very well.
02:57 And like I said, the Miami team of last year is far cry from what the Miami team of this
03:03 year is.
03:04 I feel they're much, much better on both sides of the ball.
03:08 And they definitely will be stiffer competition for the Aggies than what the Aggies saw in
03:13 week one against the New Mexico Lobos.
03:17 The Hurricanes, again, I mentioned this in a couple of shows earlier this week, that
03:22 my biggest fear for the Hurricanes, for the Aggies running into this is their ground game,
03:27 their rushing game.
03:29 They gained 250 yards in the season over against Miami of Ohio.
03:34 And again, that's not the A&M defense.
03:37 I understand that.
03:39 So the foes will be much, much different for both teams heading into week two.
03:44 It's really Miami's only out of conference, I guess, marquee matchup.
03:49 I don't have their whole schedule in front of me, but they don't really have any tough
03:53 matchups out of the ACC this year.
03:56 The Aggies were their only one that was scheduled.
04:00 So they'll be looking to make a statement win out of conference here.
04:03 The Aggies, of course, will be looking to make a statement win out of conference.
04:08 We saw what happened to LSU in their season opener against Florida State.
04:14 They just got dominated.
04:16 They do not look good at all right now.
04:18 But again, it's week one.
04:20 Let's not read too much of anything into that other than the loss, which is great if you're
04:25 an Aggies fan.
04:27 But Tyler Van Dyke, the Miami quarterback, certainly more experienced than the Lobos
04:32 quarterback as they were heading into that game.
04:35 More seasoned, probably more talented.
04:38 The only issue with Van Dyke is he hurt a finger on his throwing hand back in August,
04:47 earlier in August.
04:48 And he had it taped up in the game against the Red Hawks.
04:51 But Mario Cristobal, head coach of the Hurricanes, doesn't think that's going to be an issue.
04:56 And hopefully for them it won't be.
04:58 Maybe for the Aggies to take a little bit of advantage of a sort of an ailing Tyler
05:04 Van Dyke.
05:05 I would be okay with that.
05:06 I wouldn't have an issue with that.
05:07 But again, to me, it's the ground game that's going to have to be the focus of the Aggies
05:12 defense.
05:13 I don't think Van Dyke can beat you with his arm.
05:16 The ground game is where the Aggies will be focusing this week, in my opinion.
05:21 So we'll be watching for it.
05:23 It's Aggies-Hurricanes on Saturday.
05:25 2.30 Central time, I believe, is the kickoff time.
05:29 And we'll have some more previews for you here as the week goes on, probably for Thursday
05:34 and Friday.
05:35 We'll have predictions for you on Friday as well.
05:37 Make sure you tune in to that show.
05:40 But we'll do all that again later in the week.
05:42 And that'll do it for today.
05:44 Appreciate you tuning in.
