00:41 Because there was no post-registration verification process,

00:46 they just received the ID, the picture, and it's okay.

00:51 It's too easy, it's too fast to implement.

00:54 At the start, they have to set the identity assurance levels.

01:00 So if you're going to require that everyone is in field-seas, that might be a good practice.

01:05 But what about those who are not in field-seas?

01:10 The National Telecommunications Commission says,

01:13 while over 118 million have registered their SIM,

01:17 it has received more than 45,000 complaints on tech scams.

01:22 The Information and Communications Technology Department says,

01:25 too many SIMs per registrant should be suspect.

01:28 We set a standard limit of 10.

01:32 Anything beyond 10, you provide us the details so we can track down and validate.

01:39 Senators called for the revision of the laws implementing rules.

01:43 An expert says, telcos, e-wallet providers, and banks must do their part.

01:47 If these SIM cards are always sending, block them immediately.

01:52 These are what telcos can do now.

01:54 Using AI, they can see the fake IDs that are being sent.

01:59 Experts believe Filipinos must also protect themselves.

02:03 You know, develop that skeptical mindset that when we see this, it looks like a scam.
