New York law on Airbnb sparks mixed reactions  New Yorkers have mixed feelings about a new city law banning short-term rentals, such as Airbnb. The law only allows rentals for 30 days or more if the host lives on-site. Some see it as necessary, while a business traveler finds it puzzling. 00:35 I mean, this is one of the most populated travel destinations in the world.

00:40 So it doesn't make any sense to me at all.

00:42 I mean, I come up from Birmingham, Alabama about five times a year.

00:46 So I'm always looking for options and hotel rooms are outrageous these days.

01:23 And so it's a good thing, definitely, for sure.

01:32 from kind of the original appeal of Airbnb's,

01:35 that they are not serving their communities.

01:38 And they're not even serving travelers anymore, right?

01:40 Like the experience of going to an Airbnb is not the same that it was when

01:45 the system first started.

01:47 I think that travelers know that, and I think that locals understand the impact

01:50 that Airbnb is having in their communities, and it's absolutely not sustainable.
