00:02 - A shocking bombshell report in the overnight hours,
00:05 Saturday into early Sunday morning,
00:08 out of East Lansing, Michigan,
00:10 in the campus of Michigan State.
00:12 Mel Tucker, after a news conference yesterday afternoon,
00:15 has been suspended without pay,
00:18 as the MSU Athletic Department
00:20 looks into a claim of sexual harassment
00:23 made by prominent sexual assault advocate
00:25 and rape survivor, Brenda Tracy,
00:27 against Mel Tucker.
00:30 He has now had a Title IX complaint filed against him, DRS,
00:34 and he has been suspended
00:36 by the Michigan State Athletic Department without pay.
00:39 There is a hearing to resolve this matter in early October,
00:43 but DRS, as the report said yesterday,
00:46 this all seems just a moment in time
00:49 before Mel Tucker is ultimately fired,
00:51 following that hearing coming to a close in early October.
00:56 - Yeah, based close to a $100 million contract that he signed,
00:59 this is gonna be with cause,
01:00 which means he's not gonna get any of that future pay,
01:02 and rightfully so. - Correct.
01:03 - But sometimes, Matt, it just comes down
01:04 to simple elements of being a human being.
01:06 How about just reading the room?
01:08 Like, you're at the epicenter of one of the biggest,
01:09 you know, scandals in the history of,
01:11 I don't wanna say NCAA sports,
01:13 in the sporting environment worldwide here,
01:15 and you were going to do this on the side here,
01:18 and thinking that it wouldn't be brought to attention
01:20 or brought to light or have extra scrutiny.
01:21 I mean, some people, like,
01:23 you talk about like fumbling the bag
01:24 of how much dollars were still on the table there,
01:26 even if you were a bad coach
01:27 and got fired after two years,
01:28 securing that amount of money
01:30 to do something so stupid on the side.
01:32 And again, it's just about reading the room.
01:34 How could you do something like that, Matt?
01:37 - I don't know, DRS.
01:38 I literally have no idea.
01:40 The climate, the environment,
01:41 for all of this to take place truly boggles the mind.
01:45 The USA Today report that came out
01:46 in the overnight hours on Saturday is a difficult read,
01:49 but I believe if you care about college sports,
01:51 if you care about individuals, it is a must read.
01:54 Brenda Tracy is a well-known individual,
01:57 sadly, for being a gang rape survivor back 25 years ago,
02:01 but she has used that trauma
02:03 to become a prominent advocate of sexual assault
02:06 and making sure that individuals understand
02:09 the drama and the harmful nature that it provides.
02:13 She has been involved with college football programs
02:15 because she is trying to use that advocacy
02:18 and her voice to change something in her life
02:21 and make sure it doesn't happen again.
02:23 She spoke at Michigan State multiple times.
02:26 It seemed as though she developed a professional
02:29 and personal relationship with Mel Tucker
02:31 to be a champion for her rightful cause.
02:34 And yet, DRS, as the Title IX claim under our details
02:39 and as the report shared yesterday,
02:42 it was Mel Tucker engaging in inappropriate
02:45 sexual misconduct with Brenda Tracy
02:48 on a phone call now two Aprils ago.
02:51 Many would say Michigan State had the details
02:54 of this report back in late July.
02:56 Why did they not do anything
02:57 until the report surfaced from USA Today?
03:00 That's because Title IX works.
03:02 Why Michigan State did not espouse this
03:04 at the news conference yesterday evening,
03:06 DRS, in East Lansing, I don't know.
03:08 But Title IX claims are confidential
03:12 unless one of the parties, the claimant in this case,
03:15 Brenda Tracy, makes it well-known and public knowledge.
03:19 And that's what she did and has the right to do
03:22 in this USA Today report.
03:25 What DRS is referencing, by the way,
03:27 Larry Nassar worked for Michigan State.
03:29 It's not a collegiate athletic scandal,
03:31 but it happened in East Lansing,
03:33 and it is one of the biggest scandals
03:34 and one of the most horrendous acts
03:37 that you will find in sports in a human being.
03:41 And Brenda Tracy being as prominent and well-known
03:43 of a figure as she is for championing this cause
03:46 of sexual assault advocacy, for Mel Tucker to do this, DRS,
03:51 he is going to be fired.
03:53 He is going to be fired with cause.
03:55 Rightfully so, he should be held accountable
03:58 for his disgusting actions, his individual actions,
04:02 where DRS, now the football program in East Lansing,
04:05 and those players that came to this school and program
04:08 to play for Mel Tucker are now the ones
04:10 that are going to have the consequences
04:12 of their individual Mel Tucker, their head coach,
04:16 Mark D'Antonio, of course,
04:18 one of the most notable college football coaches
04:20 and a legend at Michigan State is coming back
04:23 as an associate head coach to help out as well for MSU.
04:28 Again, a mess DRS brought on by one individual, Mel Tucker,
04:34 and his antics away from the football field.
04:37 So we'll continue to provide updates on that story
04:40 as they become available, but Mel Tucker at this moment,
04:43 DRS has been suspended without pay
04:45 by the Michigan State Athletic Department.
