The ACT Jewish Community was established in 1951 and the National Jewish Memorial Centre was opened in 1971.

The centre is home to an Orthodox and a Progressive Congregation each of which holds weekly services.

00:37 And it's very expensive to commission one of these because it's all handwritten, but
00:43 with ink on parchment, which takes maybe over a year to prescribe to write.
00:48 We're talking about 10, 20,000 US dollars to write one of these, if not more than that.
