00:02 - The Jays trying to avoid a sweep against Texas
00:07 because of the Rangers taking the first three.
00:09 Because Texas is riding a five game win streak.
00:14 They hold the second of three wild card spots
00:17 in the American League.
00:19 And the Blue Jays are currently on the outside
00:21 looking in a game behind the Mariners
00:24 for that third and final spot.
00:26 But Kevin Gossman gets the start today for Toronto.
00:29 Nathanie Evaldi on the other side for Texas.
00:32 The Rangers need some front line starting pitching DRS.
00:35 Do they pull off the four game sweep of the Blue Jays today?
00:39 - I don't think they do.
00:40 But yesterday I didn't think that the Texas Rangers
00:43 would win either.
00:43 And they won 10 to nothing in an absolute wrap.
00:45 But if we take a look at Nathanie Evaldi
00:47 who's a quality pitcher and has had a very good season.
00:49 But after coming back off the IL,
00:51 not a great start coming back.
00:52 21 batters he's faced at 389 ISO power number.
00:56 You have a lot of those batters on Toronto
00:57 waiting to get after right-handed pitching.
00:59 And quite frankly, they probably will do that tonight.
01:02 If we flip it over the other side,
01:03 Kevin Gossman's been pretty calm all season long.
01:06 If we take a look at his last 30 days,
01:07 he's average with his ISO power number around a 180
01:11 and a 318 weighted on base percentage.
01:13 So if I know what I'm getting out of Kevin Gossman
01:15 to his average, I think that should be enough
01:17 to win the day.
01:18 And also you take a look, man, my goodness,
01:20 can you imagine the Texas Rangers going on the road
01:22 in a playoff atmosphere, winning four straight games
01:25 from Toronto in their own building?
01:26 That's one of those things where at least
01:28 if you're the Blue Jays, you can salvage it
01:30 and get back into the standings.
01:31 But if you lose four, that is ultimately demoralizing
01:34 as you move through.
01:35 Yesterday I backed Toronto, they got hammered,
01:37 but you know what, Ben?
01:38 I'm gonna back Toronto again today.
01:40 I think they're the better side today
01:41 and they need this game.
