Philp: Labour’s immigration plans have collapsed into chaos

  • last year
Policing minister Chris Philp has branded Sir Keir Starmer's immigration plan an open border policy, saying that the British public would strongly oppose vast numbers of “more than 100,000 of Europe’s illegal immigrants into the UK, with no idea at all about where to accommodate them.”
Labour said it promised new staff to cut the current claims backlog, and end the use of hotels to house asylum seekers. Report by Covellm. Like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/itn and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/itn

00:00 Labour's plans have collapsed into chaos. A senior figure in the European Commission was quoted by
00:04 the Times today saying that their plans were delusional. Their plans appear to include
00:11 being prepared to ship over 100,000 or more than 100,000 of Europe's illegal immigrants into the
00:17 UK with no idea at all about where to accommodate them and in fact no limit on numbers either.
00:22 That's what it would mean if Labour signed up to the EU's scheme. So I think that would be something
00:28 the British public would strongly oppose. We also know that Keir Starmer is saying he doesn't want
00:34 to proceed with the government's Rwanda plan which we know will work. We've seen it work in Australia
00:39 where they had a similar scheme and we've seen it work with our returns agreement with Albania
00:43 where numbers crossing the channel from Albania have gone down by 90% in the last year. So Labour's
00:50 plans have rapidly collapsed into chaos. They plan to open our borders to 100,000 of Europe's
00:55 illegal immigrants and the European Commission themselves have said Keir Starmer is deluded.
